PaRappa the Rapper v0.1.3
PaRappa the Rapper v0.1.3 uses the merged shared engine with Internal Resolution enabled at 4x. Mods offers saved Native (1x) through 32x; disabling Internal Resolution uses native resolution.
The original adaptive widescreen, default-OFF Rhythm Timing Assist, digital controller mapping, native memory cards, 60 ms audio buffer, compiled Vulkan backend, OpenGL default, and netplay-OFF profile are preserved. Generic CD Speed and Fast Loading packages are absent.
The exact Windows native binary completed fresh selective PGO baseline/instrumented/normal-close boot training/strict profile-use phases with three fresh profiles. Binary source is 68eb7ca. Release source b4c8fb2 commits those exact already-compiled generated bytes and corrects catalog staging only. PACKAGING_PROVENANCE.json records that distinction; the native binary and profiles were retained without rebuilding.
Independent package review passed, and the owner explicitly cleared the final visual/play check. Boot training is a build step, not a gameplay, rhythm/audio-quality, netplay, or speedup result. Native saves persist; snapshots are build-specific. The Linux recipe remains available in source; no new Linux artifact is claimed.
This release attaches the exact accepted Windows archive, 26,864,754 bytes.

PaRappa the Rapper v0.1.2 — Timing Assist + Ultrawide
This Windows x64 and Linux x64 release combines both contributions to kirby1237's PaRappa recomp:
- PR #1: optional Rhythm Timing Assist, latency compensation, a configurable 60 ms audio-buffer default, and digital D-pad controller mode with analogue sticks unbound.
- PR #2: 21:9 widescreen by default, selectable 16:9, adaptive fit or original 4:3, and the 1080p internal-resolution preset by default.
Both changes are integrated in this fork; the upstream PRs remain separate for review. The release builds include both mods, the launcher, boxart and a real Stage 1 widescreen screenshot.
Extract the whole ZIP, run PaRappaTheRapper_Recompiled.exe on Windows or ./PaRappaTheRapper_Recompiled on Linux (Ubuntu 24.04 or compatible), and select your own supported US SCUS-94183 cue/bin image. No disc, retail BIOS or personal save/settings data is included. Bundled OpenBIOS is available.
In Mods, enable Rhythm Timing Assist; it starts disabled in a fresh installation. Start with compensation at 0 ms and adjust early/late tolerance for your display, controller and audio. Set both tolerances to 60 ms for maximum forgiveness. Correct buttons and musical patterns still matter. Configure your controller in Controls.
Existing graphics settings take precedence: select 1080p in the launcher when upgrading an existing installation. The renderer uses integer scaling; this preset resolves to 5× / 1200 internal lines from the original 240-line image. Movies and 2D menus keep their original proportions.
Validation covers both platform builds and timing callback tests, release archive audits and launcher/OpenBIOS boot checks with both mods selected. Stage 1's moving rhythm marker and button cues were checked at 21:9 and compared with 4:3. Other stages and Linux controller gameplay still need player validation. PaRappa the Rapper: Rhythm Timing Assist preview
Optional rhythm timing assistance for kirby1237's PaRappa recomp, built for Windows and Linux with recomp-ui.
- Locked digital controller mode: saved Analog selections are overridden, and new installs use D-pad directions with both sticks unbound.
- Signed latency compensation and separate early/late tolerance for controller or keyboard play.
- In Stage 1, enabling the default additions widens the timing half-window from about 45 ms to 57 ms. Button and scoring checks still apply.
- The framework now honors
[audio] buffer_ms; see the bundledDISC.mdfor setup and calibration.
Extract the ZIP, open PaRappaTheRapper_Recompiled, select your own supported USA disc, and enable Mods / Accessibility / Rhythm Timing Assist. The mod is off by default. No disc image, retail BIOS, saves or personal settings are included.
This is an experimental preview. Stage 1 timing probes, native arithmetic tests and the Windows launcher were checked; other stages, full-stage completion and physical hardware calibration are not systematically validated. Linux is built by CI and has not been playtested here.
