Battle Arena Toshinden Recompiled v0.1.4
Toshinden v0.1.4 adopts the shared optimization defaults and a fresh selective PGO release build. Internal Resolution defaults to 4x, with 1x–32x choices subject to GPU texture and memory admission. CD Speed and Fast Loading packages are excluded.
Preserves Gaia/Sho roster support and alternate portraits, adaptive widescreen and companion hooks, the existing frame-rate choices, locked digital-pad controls, setup flow, native memory cards and negotiated netplay defaults. The player template retains the source configuration's content-negotiation setting.
The public Windows package and corrected existing catalog test passed independent review. The targeting fixture now supplies the trusted registry it omitted and checks that unavailable implementations still fail closed; every original targeting/companion assertion remains. Its initial failed result is retained. The runtime package was not rebuilt or repackaged for this test-only correction.
This release does not claim a new per-title speedup, Linux qualification, exhaustive gameplay, two-peer netplay qualification or an F7/save-state check. Native memory cards remain separate from build-specific disposable save states. Supply your own supported USA CUE and all fourteen BIN tracks; no game media, private profiles, saves or settings are included.

0.1.3 - Clean Install Mod Target Fix
- Fixed bundled Toshinden mod packages being rejected on clean player installs with "package does not target this game/image", including Widescreen, Frame Interpolation, Extra Roster, and Desperation at Any Health.
Includes Windows x64 ZIP and Linux x86_64 AppImage builds. This is a targeted hotfix over 0.1.2.
Provide your own USA 14-track BIN/CUE disc image. MIT-licensed OpenBIOS is bundled; no disc data or retail BIOS is included. Linux requires glibc 2.38 or newer. See README.md for setup instructions.
0.1.2 - Alternate Portraits and Visual Fixes
0.1.2 - Alternate Portraits and Visual Fixes
- Added distinct alternate portraits for Gaia and Sho, with opposite-facing
poses and colors matching their original alternate costumes. Press Select
(Right Shift on keyboard) to switch. Both players choose independently. - Fixed Extra Roster corrupting the original fighters' alternate portraits.
- Fixed split player scores in adaptive ultrawide views.
- Locked controller mode to the game's supported digital D-pad protocol while
retaining physical controller selection. - Fixed save-state restoration of mod GPU command buffers. Older states that
lack the required mod buffers are rejected safely. - Refreshed the README and restored the community Discord badge.
Includes Windows x64 ZIP and Linux x86_64 AppImage builds. This early release
is believed to be stable based on gameplay testing and user validation.
Two-player netplay and online Extra Roster remain supported. Both players
should update to 0.1.2; Extra Roster now identifies itself as package 1.0.1.
LAN / Direct IP sessions run without mods. See validation/README.md for scope.
Provide your own USA 14-track BIN/CUE disc image. MIT-licensed OpenBIOS is
bundled; no disc data or retail BIOS is included. Linux requires glibc 2.38
or newer. See README.md for setup instructions.
0.1.1 - Online Extra Roster
0.1.1 - Online Extra Roster
Gaia and Sho can now be selected in online matches. The host chooses Extra
Roster from the lobby's Mods page; guests see the required mod in View Mods
and receive the host's selection automatically when the match launches.
- Added online mod-plan exchange, installed-version checks, and matching
plan fingerprints. Guest offline mod settings remain saved separately. - Verified the online lobby flow, Gaia/Sho selection, and combat through the
public relay with independently controlled players. - Removed the EXTRA heading and the small GAIA/SHO icon captions. Character
names beneath the large portraits remain. - Made extra-row navigation and selection highlights deterministic when
game state is restored. Returning to the regular row selects Eiji for P1
and Kayin for P2. - Corrected the guest lobby summary to show the host's mod selection.
Windows x64 ZIP and Linux x86_64 AppImage are included. The game is believed
to be stable based on gameplay testing and user validation despite its early
version. Online testing is functional, not exhaustive; see the validation
notes for scope and known limits. Automatic mod downloads and resource-backed
online mods are not supported. LAN / Direct IP sessions run without mods.
This release replaces 0.1.0, which has been hidden as a draft.
