TinySift app 0.7.0

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 08 Nov 13:50

TinySift 0.7.0 for Mac makes Monitor free, adds a right-click menu to the menu bar icon and brings the Monitor and Clean sidebar to every copy.

  • Monitor is free: CPU, RAM, disk, network, battery, Agents and every chart range stay open after the 14-day trial. Only Clean and Uninstall need Lifetime.
  • Menu bar: right-click the icon for Open TinySift, Smart Clean, Settings, Open at Login, Check for Updates, Report a Problem and Quit. The popover is larger, its rail names each page and marks the ones that need attention, and Open at Login is now a switch in Settings.
  • Sidebar: Monitor and Clean now head the sidebar, and Smart Clean works through cards. A card that a Clean has emptied disappears.
  • Apps: Installed and Updates tabs. Overview offers Find space to clean when the disk is nearly full.
  • Agents: sessions are grouped by repository with each tool's logo, a session counts as working by its CPU over the last minute, and one warning card names a session that keeps a core busy.
  • Battery: the app list ranks after 6 seconds, stays on screen between visits and shows placeholder rows while it loads.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

What the app sends: nothing new. The Updates tab asks the Homebrew on your Mac which apps are outdated; TinySift sends no request of its own for it.

TinySift app 0.6.1

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 07 Nov 19:31

TinySift 0.6.1 for Mac redesigns Overview, CPU, RAM and Agents around the question each page answers.

  • Overview: a new page puts what needs attention first, then CPU by core, RAM, disk, network, battery and the Claude Code and Codex limits you have left.
  • CPU and RAM: the lists are now pages of cards for what is using the most and what you can free up, and the list's own search field moves into search.
  • Agents: one panel lists your agent sessions, with the ones that are working apart from the idle ones, and a warning when a session keeps a core busy.
  • Search: press ⌘F from any page to find an app, a session or a page.
  • The Agents symbol in the sidebar and the menu bar popover is now three joined nodes.
  • To show these pages TinySift now keeps a short local history of CPU culprits and disk readings on this Mac. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

TinySift app 0.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 07 Nov 18:23

TinySift 0.6.0 for Mac adds Network and Battery to the menu bar app.

  • Network: a new screen and popover page show the whole Mac's download over upload speed, with a history chart. macOS has no public per-process figure, so no app is named there.
  • Battery: a new screen and popover page show the charge level, how fast it drains and which apps use the most energy. It appears on Macs that have a battery.
  • Claude Code limits: turning the limits display off no longer breaks a status line that another tool wraps.
  • The sidebar's symbols are brighter than the labels, and the selected row is a neutral grey instead of blue.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

TinySift app 0.5.1

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 03 Nov 08:45

TinySift 0.5.1 for Mac keeps your Lifetime license safe when saving or reading it fails, and fits smaller windows.

  • License: if TinySift cannot save your license on this Mac, it stays active for the session and Settings offers Retry Save, which never uses another activation.
  • License: if your saved license cannot be read, TinySift leaves it untouched and offers Retry Read instead of asking you to buy again.
  • License: Settings links to Manage License, where you sign in with your purchase email to find your key and review its activations.
  • The window now opens as small as 1024 × 640, and every screen reflows to fit; dragging the sidebar no longer widens the window.
  • Menu bar: the status item is the TinySift tile, the popover's pages use the same icons as the sidebar, and each agent session shows its tool's logo.
  • CPU and RAM lists sort by their own measure or by name, so the title and bars always describe what you sorted by.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

TinySift app 0.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 03 Nov 05:46

TinySift 0.5.0 for Mac lives in the menu bar and shows what your coding agents are doing.

  • Menu bar: click the TinySift mark for CPU, RAM, disk and agent sessions at a glance. Closing the window keeps TinySift running there; Quit ends it.
  • Agents: every Claude Code and Codex session with its CPU and memory, plus your 5-hour and weekly limits. Claude Code's limits appear after one click, which adds a small step to its status line and keeps yours working.
  • CPU and RAM screens: a chart of the last hour or six with Peak, and a ranked list where agents, apps and background processes each sit in their own group.
  • Overview shows your limit tiles and agent sessions next to the apps using the most.
  • Permissions are asked for on the first screen that needs them, not at launch.
  • Agents and the 1-hour and 6-hour charts are part of Lifetime after the 14-day trial. CPU, RAM and disk readings stay free.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

What the app reads: to show agent limits, TinySift reads Codex's session logs in ~/.codex/sessions and the four numbers Claude Code's status line passes it. Everything stays on your Mac; nothing new is sent anywhere.

TinySift app 0.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 02 Nov 18:18

TinySift 0.4.1 for Mac fixes the Memory ranking on Overview and cleans up how controls respond.

  • Overview: ranking by Memory now orders apps correctly and draws each bar at its real size.
  • Everything you can click shows the hand pointer on macOS 15 or newer.
  • Keyboard focus is a soft tint instead of a ring, and a click leaves nothing behind.
  • The capsule buttons and sidebar tools drop the ring around their symbols.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

TinySift app 0.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 28 Oct 12:44

TinySift 0.4.0 is the first full release: the beta is over. Scan and review stay free; Clean and Uninstall are free for 14 days, then need the one-time Lifetime license.

TinySift 0.4.0 makes Clean one step: pick nothing, press one button.

  • Clean opens with everything that rebuilds itself already ticked. One button, one confirmation, and the result tells you what was freed.
  • Storage is a ranked list of what takes the most space, replacing the treemap.
  • Overview offers Find space when your startup disk fills up.
  • Caches that a developer tool prunes itself (uv, pnpm, simulator runtimes) are marked as such in Clean.
  • Long lists in the app load app icons only for the rows you can see.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

TinySift app 0.3.0 (beta)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 26 Oct 15:37

TinySift 0.3.0 adds a 14-day free trial and the Lifetime license: a one-time purchase, no subscription.

  • Scan and review stay free, always. Clean and Uninstall are free for 14 days with no card and no account, then need a license.
  • Lifetime is $5 for one Mac, updates included. Buy it from Settings → License or tinysift.app, then enter the key there.
  • The Beta badge is gone; Settings → License shows the days left and the license state.
  • Uninstall appears on every app row that can be uninstalled, and the app confirms actions in its own dialog instead of a system alert.
  • Clean no longer labels rows REVIEW, ADMIN or REPORT ONLY; it says what will happen in plain words.
  • System simulator caches are reported but not selected for cleaning.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

What the app sends: besides checking for updates, the app asks tinysift.app for its plan when it opens, with a Mac ID (a salted hash of the hardware UUID, never the UUID itself). When you enter a license key, it sends the key and the Mac ID to tinysift.app, which checks them with Polar, and checks again at most once a day while the app is open. The trial is counted on your Mac, in its Keychain, and is never sent. No paths, sizes or scan results leave your Mac. Details: https://tinysift.app/privacy

TinySift app 0.2.0 (beta)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@mxrsv mxrsv released this 25 Oct 10:19

Fourth beta of the TinySift Mac app. Free to use.

  • Clean the whole selection from one button. Rebuilt caches and build output are deleted for good by default (a Settings switch sends them to the Trash instead); your own files always go to the Trash.
  • Clean and Storage scans finish faster.
  • Overview now leads with what is using your Mac the most.
  • The sidebar shows Clean, Storage and Apps as buttons that open into a card when something needs attention, and you can drag it wider.
  • Report a Problem and Send Feedback, from the Help menu and the sidebar.
  • Clean, Storage and Uninstall reports lead with the figure that matters.
  • App memory is shown as the footprint macOS reports.
  • TinySift stops sampling while its window is hidden, and charts start fresh after a pause or sleep.

Requirements: macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only. Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.

What the app sends: Report a Problem opens a GitHub issue form in your browser, prefilled with the app version, Mac model, chip, macOS version, memory, startup disk size and free space, permission statuses and plan. It never includes a path, a file or app name, your device id or license token. Nothing is sent until you submit the form on GitHub.

  • macOS 14 or newer, Apple Silicon only.
  • Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.
