Choose a tag to compare

@mzbali mzbali released this 02 Nov 20:57
  • The search field is shown at the top of the panel by default. Click it or just start typing; it no longer shows a blinking caret until you do.
  • Choose in Settings → Panel whether the search field is shown always, only while you type, or never. With Never, typing no longer starts a hidden search.
  • Press ⌘V in the panel to paste the selected card, just like Return or a click.
  • Clear History… has moved into the panel's … menu, and the menu items now have icons.
  • Buttons in the panel show a pointing-hand cursor.

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Apple silicon or Intel. This release is not notarised by Apple; the installation guide explains the first-launch approval step.

  • Open the clipboard in your chosen position with either the shortcut or a left-click. Right-click and Control-click open the options menu.
  • Settings opens on General, and Settings, About and the welcome screen consistently show the ClipVee icon.
  • See when history is paused, the next copy will be skipped, or capture is turned off, with actions to resume or open the relevant settings.
  • Prevent copies made while paused from being captured after a quick resume, and make skip-next-copy apply to the next new copy.
  • Apply capture and search-display settings immediately. Find the search field more easily and clear an empty search without losing keyboard focus.
  • Check Accessibility permission in General. The panel now says “Clear history…” and confirms that pinned items are kept.
  • Improve setup and troubleshooting guidance, website copy feedback, mobile layout, and the reduced-motion demo’s final pasted-and-selected state.

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Apple silicon or Intel. This release is not notarised by Apple; the installation guide explains the first-launch approval step.

ClipVee 1.0.3

@mzbali mzbali released this 01 Nov 23:09

Bigger photos, a menu on the menu bar icon, and quieter updates.

  • Bigger photos. Photos in the list now fill the card's width, so you can tell them apart at a glance.
  • A menu on the menu bar icon. Right-click (or Control-click) the icon to open the clipboard, pause history, clear it, open Settings, check for updates or quit.
  • Quieter updates. When a new version is ready, ClipVee shows an update button in the panel and in the menu instead of opening a window while you work.
  • A welcome window on first launch shows your shortcut, helps you turn on Accessibility and can open ClipVee at login.
  • Fixed: clearing the history while a photo was the newest item could crash ClipVee.
  • Fixed: an item pinned just before clearing the history could be deleted.

Updating

ClipVee 1.0.2 offers this update by itself. You can also click Check now in Settings → General, or run brew upgrade --cask mzbali/tap/clipvee. Accessibility stays on. If you have 1.0.2, updating soon is worth it: it fixes the crash when clearing a photo.

Install

Download ClipVee-1.0.3.dmg below, open it and drag ClipVee to Applications, or run brew install --cask mzbali/tap/clipvee. ClipVee isn't notarised by Apple, so the first time you open it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Then click Allow… in the welcome window and turn ClipVee on under Privacy & Security → Accessibility so it can paste for you. Full steps are in the README.

Needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.

ClipVee now keeps itself up to date.

  • ClipVee now updates itself. It asks whether to check for updates automatically, then looks once a day and installs a new version when you click Install. You can also click Check now in Settings → General. The only thing that goes online is this check, which asks GitHub for the latest version.
  • Only genuine updates install. Every update is signed, and ClipVee refuses any download that isn't.

Updating from 1.0.1

1.0.1 can't check for updates, so replace it by hand this once: quit ClipVee, drag the new copy to Applications, and open it. macOS may ask you to click Open Anyway again. Accessibility stays on. From now on, updates come to you.

With Homebrew: brew upgrade --cask mzbali/tap/clipvee.

Install

Download ClipVee-1.0.2.dmg below, open it and drag ClipVee to Applications, or run brew install --cask mzbali/tap/clipvee. ClipVee isn't notarised by Apple, so the first time you open it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Then turn ClipVee on under Privacy & Security → Accessibility so it can paste for you. Full steps are in the README.

Needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.

Easier to install, and the last update that asks for Accessibility again.

  • A disk image. Open ClipVee-1.0.1.dmg and drag ClipVee onto Applications. The zip is still here if you prefer it.
  • Accessibility stays on after updates. Releases are now signed with a ClipVee certificate rather than ad hoc, so macOS recognises each new version as the same app.
  • Safer release builds. The release no longer carries a debugging permission that let other programs attach to ClipVee.

Updating from 1.0.0

Quit ClipVee, replace it in Applications, and open it. Then, once, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, remove ClipVee with the minus button and turn the new copy on. Later updates keep the permission.

The first release of ClipVee: Windows-style clipboard history for the Mac. Press ⌘⇧V, pick a card, and it's pasted into the app you were using.

  • Text, image and file history as cards, newest first, with where and when each was copied
  • Paste with Return or a click, or ⌘1–⌘9 for the nine newest items
  • Pins that survive Clear all, type-to-search, colour swatches for hex codes
  • Paste as plain text, ignore apps, pause history, and password-manager copies are skipped
  • Place the panel in the middle of the window, at the pointer, by the menu bar icon or where you last dragged it
  • A redesigned Settings window
