Android and Apple Silicon Mac 1.0 beta, with first-launch USA game installation and compatible direct LAN fighting.

Android download and install

  1. Download DBZ-Burst-Limit-1.0-beta-arm64.apk from the assets below.
  2. Open the APK on Android and allow your file manager to install apps when prompted.
  3. Open Burst Limit. On first launch without valid game files, select your own USA/NTSC-U Xbox 360 ISO or a ZIP containing extracted game files. A ZIP containing an ISO must be unpacked first.
  4. Wait for validation and extraction. Later launches reuse the installed files. The original ISO/ZIP remains unchanged.

No game files are included. European/PAL and Japanese executables are unsupported. The supported default.xex is 7,983,104 bytes, SHA-1 aec598f88cf51181fc377b148e0b1ad30db4485c.

The app reports version 1.0-beta, version code 2, package org.burstlimit.android. This non-debuggable beta uses the same local development signing key as the earlier device-tested APKs. Updating those installs preserves app data. Independently built APKs can have a different key; a signature mismatch is not a reason to delete your game/saves without a backup.

Mac download and install

  1. Download DBZ-Burst-Limit-1.0-beta-macos-arm64.zip from the assets below and extract it.
  2. Move the complete Burst Limit.app to Applications, then open it in Finder. Keep the bundled runtime and graphics libraries inside the app.
  3. On first launch without a valid installation, select your own USA Xbox 360 ISO or ZIP of extracted game files. Setup validates and copies the game; later launches reuse it. No Python, Homebrew or separate extractor is needed to run the app.
  4. This beta is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. If macOS blocks this trusted download after the first launch attempt, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

The Mac app's version is 1.0, build 1, labeled 1.0 beta. Game/configuration data uses ~/Library/Application Support/Burst Limit/; default saves, caches and logs use ~/.local/share/burstlimit/. Data stays outside the signed app bundle. Keyboard: Enter = Start, Space = A, Backspace = B, WASD = movement, L = X, P = Y.

Android requirements

  • Android 11 / API 30 or newer, 64-bit ARM system (arm64-v8a).
  • Vulkan 1.1 or newer, with the renderer's required device features, including fragment stores/atomics. GPU/OS names alone do not guarantee compatibility.
  • About 3.4 GB additional space for extracted game files, plus the APK, saves and source archive.
  • Recent hardware with 8 GB RAM or more recommended; no universal performance minimum has been measured.
  • Your own supported USA Xbox 360 game.

Mac requirements

  • Apple Silicon M1 or newer, native ARM64. Intel/Rosetta is not a validated target.
  • macOS 26.5 or newer, as declared by this build's executable and all four bundled libraries. Startup was checked on macOS 27.2 / M1 Pro; older supported OS versions have not been exercised directly.
  • About 3.4 GB additional space for extracted game data, plus the app, saves and source archive.
  • 8 GB RAM or more recommended for testing; no guaranteed sustained frame rate.
  • Your own supported USA Xbox 360 game. Vulkan/MoltenVK are included in the app.

Included

  • Native ARM64 Android and Mac apps; Vulkan on Android, bundled Vulkan/MoltenVK on Mac, and Mali compressed-texture fixes.
  • Automatic first-launch ISO/extracted-game ZIP picker, USA verification, progress and cancellation.
  • Xbox-style touch controls and a top Controls tab.
  • USB/Bluetooth gamepad support, with automatic touch-control hiding/restoration.
  • Automatic LAN discovery enabled by default, plus Offline/manual host options.
  • Live Android gamertag editing without restarting.
  • Android surface replacement handling after switching apps.

LAN with Mac

Use compatible builds on the same local network. Host: Versus → Online Battle → Player Match → Create Match, with Private Session off. Guest: Player Match → Custom Match, select the host's gamertag. Both players select Ready.

Use the Android APK and Mac ZIP from this release for matching LAN compatibility. The Mac source asset is tagged v1.0-beta-macos; the Android source tag is v1.0-beta. Both use the same pinned beta compatibility identifier. Earlier locally installed builds may advertise a different identifier and need updating on both devices.

Testing and known limits

Prior local testing verified bounded offline and completed LAN fights on first-generation Pixel Fold/M1 Pro, startup/texture/surface recovery on Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and first-launch import/intro on Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. This packaging update does not establish full gameplay on every device. Samsung current battle coverage remains incomplete; Razer Edge was skipped. Other GPU families, full campaign, long sessions, audio, physical Bluetooth controllers and 16 KB Android device execution need more coverage.

Release checks passed: Android native-library alignment/signature/version; Mac ZIP extraction, full bundle signature, ARM64 architecture, bundled/system dependencies, macOS deployment minimum and matching LAN identity. The packaged Mac app stayed alive for a bounded 25-second startup, loaded Vulkan from its own bundle, wrote logs outside the app, and retained a valid signature afterward. All 24 native importer regression checks passed. This startup check did not repeat a complete LAN fight. No raw game archives are included. SHA256SUMS.txt identifies both downloadable files.
