Changes

• Camera proportions: preserve the source aspect ratio with square pixels, use the negotiated RGBA stride, and fit the preview frame without stretching.
• Camera orientation: a saved Flip horizontally control corrects backwards text for cameras that need it. Natural source orientation remains the default.
• Files stays in the notch: selecting Files no longer closes the island. Its list, Add, Remove and Clear actions share persistent owned copies with the native drop shelf. Open the drag-and-drop window explicitly from the toolbar when needed.
• Smoother notch transitions: morph the background separately from full-size text/video, continue rapid reversals without reset jumps, respect reduced motion, and refresh data after the opening reveal.
• More resilient updates: retry and resume interrupted downloads, restart safely when Range is unsupported, and keep TLS plus SHA-256 verification before installing. Both the app updater and terminal installer use private staging and bounded attempts.

Updating

Install the package, restart Veronica, and log out and back in to load the updated GNOME Shell extension. If your current updater stops on a network/TLS error, download the package directly from this release or use the terminal installer.

Validation

The combined feature tree passed 880 Rust tests, 83 extension tests, frontend production build and workspace clippy. Synthetic GStreamer tests verify 4:3/16:9 geometry and horizontal pixel reversal. Perceived animation smoothness and live camera/lid/cross-app DND behavior still require verification on the target GNOME session.

Changes

• Emoji picker: transparent rounded corners, insertion without hiding/remapping, and Shell-managed floating above other apps.
• File Shelf: a native shelf opened from the notch Files tab. Incoming files and folders become independent local copies; outgoing drags keep the stored entry until you remove it. Existing path-only entries migrate once.
• Camera: render frames through the proper Clutter content path and stop capture with visible feedback when frame extraction or texture upload fails.
• Keep Awake / Lid Awake: preserve active settings through file replacement and transient read failures, and show inhibitor acquisition failures.
• Usage: keep weekly-only Codex limits in the weekly slot and label locally modeled API cost as an estimate.

Updating

Install the package, restart Veronica, and log out and back in to load the updated GNOME Shell extension.

Validation and limits

The combined feature tree passed 873 Rust tests, 70 extension tests, frontend production build and workspace clippy. Live GNOME camera rendering, physical lid-close behavior and cross-application file drops still require manual verification. Shelf imports support regular files and folders; nested symbolic links and special files are rejected.

What changed

• Keep the emoji picker available for multiple selections instead of dismissing it after every emoji.
• Drag the picker by its header and close it explicitly using × or Escape. Clicking outside leaves it open.
• Preserve the picker position and search during the focus handoff used to insert into your previous app.
• Refine the notch with a rounded black pill, subtler edges, and smoother expansion and collapse.
• Respect desktop reduced-motion preferences without adding an idle animation loop.
