Qurioso v1.6.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 23:43

Qurioso 1.6.1

This update helps teachers notice participants who share a device, and frees shared devices once homework is handed in.

  • Same device warning: in the lobby and on the homework page, a triangle next to a name means that participant joined from the same browser as another one ("Same device as …"). Each browser keeps a random code that says nothing about the device; the teacher's computer only shows who shares one. It is a hint, not a proof: on a shared tablet it is normal, and a private window gives a new code.
  • Homework on shared devices: once a student has handed in their homework, leaving forgets them on that device, so the next student with the same PIN starts their own homework. Their answers stay with the teacher. Before handing in, students can still leave and continue later.
  • Privacy: the privacy policy now explains the device code and how long homework stays on the teacher's computer (until it is deleted, at most 30 days after the deadline).

Also in 1.6.0, not listed in its notes: Assign randomly spreads the participants evenly across the teams in the lobby.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 197 automated tests, production web/server builds and the desktop smoke test passed.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions.

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 17:17

Qurioso 1.6.0

This update adds team games, more question types, class reports and homework assignments.

  • Teams: choose 2–6 teams in the lobby, let participants pick a team when joining, move them during setup, and see team standings based on average member scores.
  • More question types: multiple-select, polls and ordering questions work across live games, classroom activities, video quizzes, imports and backups.
  • Question reports: review class answers question by question, export the report as CSV and start a classroom review of the most-missed questions.
  • Homework: assign a classic quiz with a deadline from the teacher app. Students can work independently, pause and resume; the server grades answers and the teacher can review and export results. The teacher computer and Qurioso must remain available until the deadline.
  • Participant and lobby improvements: remove participants, filter offensive nicknames, simplify quiz import and clarify Internet-sharing status.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions.

Qurioso v1.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 21:47

Qurioso 1.5.0

This update adds questions written with an AI assistant without any key, makes cloud sync safer and lighter, and makes joining faster on students' phones.

  • Questions from an AI assistant, no key needed: in Import questions, paste a video transcript or lesson text and copy the request Qurioso prepares into the assistant you already use (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini…). Paste its answer back: the questions go through the usual checks and preview. Qurioso contacts no service. Read the questions before using them: the assistant can be wrong.
  • Time in the video: imported questions can carry a time (mm:ss, h:mm:ss or seconds). In a video quiz it becomes the question's checkpoint.
  • Safer cloud sync: an edit can no longer be undone when two devices write to Google Drive at the same moment; two devices connecting at once no longer create two Drive files; an edit now wins over a deletion made on another device.
  • Lighter cloud sync: when nothing changed on either side, the library file is not downloaded again.
  • Faster joining: students' phones load only the join and game screens, about a sixth of the previous download.
  • Lobby: the instructions now match the new entry: open the address and enter the PIN. Guide screenshots are updated.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 168 automated tests, production web/server builds and the desktop smoke test passed. Cloud sync is still tested only with simulated services, not with real Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive accounts. Windows and macOS were not tested by hand.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions.

Qurioso v1.4.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 21:05

Qurioso 1.4.3

This update closes a way for students to disrupt a network quiz and makes the join address easier to read aloud and type.

  • Teacher features stay on the teacher's computer: other devices on the LAN, like visitors through Cloudflare, can only join and play. Creating, controlling or ending games, and the server information, are refused from any other device. Before, a student could open the library from the shared address, start games on the teacher's server, or fill its limits until no new game could start.
  • Students land on the PIN form: opening the address from another device goes straight to participant mode, never to the library or the landing page.
  • DNS rebinding: a web page opened on the teacher's computer can no longer reach teacher features by pointing its own hostname at the local server.
  • Simpler address: the lobby shows only 192.168.1.7:54321 or name.trycloudflare.com, without http://. Copying still gives the full link, and the QR still includes the PIN.

The teacher screen now works only on the computer running Qurioso. Opening the LAN address on another device, such as a tablet, gives the participant screen.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 161 automated tests (including requests over the real LAN interface and a rebound hostname), production web/server builds and the desktop smoke test passed. Windows and macOS were not tested by hand.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions.

Qurioso v1.4.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 16:38

Qurioso 1.4.2

This update fixes the problems found by an accessibility audit (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 level AA) of the website and the app.

  • Zoom: pages can be zoomed on phones and tablets again. Quick repeated taps on an answer button still do not zoom the page.
  • Video controls: the play/pause, restart and sound buttons of the classroom video player now have names in Italian, English and German, so screen readers can announce them.
  • Contrast: the step numbers on the website and the small labels of the selected question in the editor are darker and now meet the minimum contrast.
  • Tests: a new test checks zoom, the contrast of the theme's text colours and the names of the video player buttons.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 159 automated tests, production web/server builds and the desktop smoke test passed. The axe-core audit reports no violations on the website, library, settings, editor, classroom activity, participant join and privacy pages, at desktop and phone sizes. Keyboard-only use, screen readers, the lobby and the projected question were not tested by hand.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions. Windows and macOS runtime acceptance testing remains separate from CI packaging.

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 13:57

Qurioso 1.4.1

This update refreshes the built-in guide for the interface introduced in 1.4.0.

  • Guide: the screenshots in Italian, English and German now show the new buttons and the mode names Attività in classe and Quiz sui dispositivi. The editor screenshot shows Save as available, as it is in the app.
  • Tests: a new test confirms that a YouTube or Vimeo quiz can be saved even when the video never reports its duration, for example offline.

There are no other changes to the app compared with 1.4.0.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 156 automated tests, production web/server builds and the desktop smoke test passed.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions. Windows and macOS runtime acceptance testing remains separate from CI packaging.

Qurioso v1.4.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 10:57

Qurioso 1.4.0

This update adds cloud sync and reworks the interface so that each button says what it does.

  • Cloud sync: connect Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive in Settings to keep quizzes and their images aligned between your devices. Qurioso has no server: data go from your device to a file in your own cloud space. Local video files, drafts, PINs, participants and scores are not synced. On the desktop, sign-in opens in the system browser and the refresh token stays encrypted on the computer; on the website it is available at qurioso.it. Microsoft accounts: personal accounts only.
  • Buttons with one meaning: orange marks the single main action of each screen, outlined buttons are the other actions, red buttons delete, discard or disconnect. Disabled buttons now look disabled, and file pickers are translated.
  • One name per mode: Attività in classe and Quiz sui dispositivi (Classroom activities / Device quizzes, Klassenaktivitäten / Quiz auf den Geräten) everywhere: library, cards, lobby, website, settings, desktop menu and guide.
  • Projected question: on a projector the question and answers fill the screen, and the timer fits three-digit times.
  • Lobby: the PIN appears once, the start button explains why the quiz cannot start yet, and test participants are a quiet link.
  • Clearer words: Italian labels use sentence case, technical terms such as "HTTP/WS" are gone, and Cloudflare details are in a collapsible section.
  • Fix: the desktop app could show a blank page when reopening a page it had already loaded.
  • Privacy: the privacy policy is at https://qurioso.it/privacy.html.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 155 automated tests, production web/server builds and the desktop smoke test passed. Cloud sign-in was tested manually in the Linux desktop app; sign-in on the website and sync between two devices are still to be tested with real accounts.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions. Windows and macOS runtime acceptance testing remains separate from CI packaging.

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Nov 19:36

Qurioso 1.3.3

This update prepares the desktop app for the move of the project to the qurioso-it GitHub organization.

  • Desktop updates: the app now looks for new versions in qurioso-it/qurioso and falls back to napo/qurioso while the new repository does not exist. Installers are accepted only from these two repositories. Install this version to keep receiving automatic updates after the move; earlier versions will need a manual download.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 133 automated tests and production web/server builds passed. The move itself is simulated in the automated tests and has not been exercised with an installed app.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions. Windows and macOS runtime acceptance testing remains separate from CI packaging.

Qurioso v1.3.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 17:01

Qurioso 1.3.2

This update adds direct links to classroom activities and fixes the final podium of network quizzes.

  • Classroom links: ?app=classroom&quiz=<slug> opens a quiz directly in the classroom activity, for demos and shared lessons, for example https://qurioso.it/?app=classroom&quiz=tipi-di-vulcani. The link accepts an included quiz, a quiz in the local library or a quiz published with the website in quizzes/<slug>.json, which is validated before it opens. A missing quiz opens the library with an explanation.
  • Final podium: correct-answer badges, accuracy and CSV/JSON exports now use the real number of questions in the quiz instead of a fixed total of 10.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 132 automated tests and production web/server builds passed.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions. Windows and macOS runtime acceptance testing remains separate from CI packaging.

Qurioso v1.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 11:38

Qurioso 1.3.1

This update adds a cooking video quiz and improves Cloudflare sharing across consecutive games.

  • Parmigiana di melanzane: a new included Italian video quiz with six questions and checkpoints at 0:31, 1:02, 1:48, 2:23, 2:45 and 2:54. It is available in new and existing libraries, without replacing personal edits with the same quiz ID. The cover is embedded for offline use, with its original image credits; YouTube playback requires Internet access.
  • Reuse sharing between games: leaving a game stops sharing that game while keeping a healthy Cloudflare connector ready for the next one. Enabling sharing in the next game reuses the public address with the new PIN. The server rejects tunnel traffic while no game is shared.
  • Connector lifecycle: at most one Cloudflare connector runs at a time. Requests wait for a closing connector, and an unfinished connection for another game is replaced. The OFF switch, page reload and app shutdown close the tunnel; a broken idle connector is closed quietly.
  • Verification: the live Cloudflare smoke script now covers releasing a game and reusing its tunnel.

Validation: TypeScript checks, 129 automated tests and production web/server builds passed.

Cloudflare sharing remains optional and experimental. Desktop installers and the experimental Android APK are built by GitHub Actions. Windows and macOS runtime acceptance testing remains separate from CI packaging.
