Environment
- Python version: 3.5.2
- NetBox version: 2.3.1
Description
- When assigning an IP to an interface, also list the IP's "Description" field when displaying search results
- When assigning an IP to an interface, allow 'wildcards' or something similar in the IP for the search
Use Case:
Makes life easier to find the right IP for the right interface, because human memory design is flawed.
Sorry, I'm clueless about the DB Schema (though I don't think it would need touching. Totally helpless about 3rd party libs.
Reminder from the email-thread in Google Groups (don't know when you get back to this):
In the search results, would it be possible to also list the IP’s “Description” field?
Sure. Could you open a feature request for it please?
While I’m dreaming, could I possibly in the future search for wildcard-IPs or similar?
We can replicate the logic from the
q
API filter for IP addresses, which basically matches any IP which "starts with" the given value (e.g. "192.0.2.1" will match 192.0.2.1 and 192.0.2.10). Since we're talking about the same specific function I think it's okay to add this to the same feature request as the first point.
