π, rounded at the fourth place instead of truncated at an eleventh.
Fixed: the update check said you were up to date when you were not
Check for updates reported "you are running the latest version" even when a
newer release was published. The version comparison parsed each part of the
version as a 32-bit integer, and at 3.14159265358 the digits after the point
(14159265358) passed that limit — so the check silently read the newest release
as older than the one you had, and nothing appeared in the log to say why.
3.1415926535 was the last version that still fitted, which is why this only
showed up now.
The digits after the point are now read as a decimal fraction, with no ceiling
on how many there can be. It is covered by tests that walk the project's whole
release history, so a future version that breaks the comparison fails there
first rather than in the field.
If you are on 3.14159 up to 3.1415926535, your installed copy still has the
old comparison and cannot see this release — it has to do the comparing.
Install this one by hand (or through Homebrew, the AUR or winget, which are
unaffected) and updates will work normally from here on.
Everything from 3.14159265358
If you are coming from 3.141592653 or earlier, this release also brings:
- Pads — a new tab next to DJ: a grid of labelled, coloured pads that fire a
jingle, a stab or a bed the moment you press them. Drop a track on a pad, pick
one from the database, or take any file on disk. Per-pad volume and looping,
eight banks, and pads playing on one bank keep going while you work on
another. Built for a touch screen, and fully keyboard-operable. - Portuguese and French are complete — 1369/1369 strings in both, including
the tutorial for blind operators. - Icons on every top-menu entry.
- Windows: the executable and installer now carry a publisher, product name
and description instead of blank fields, and Tor is no longer bundled — it is
installed on first use of the Torrents feature, with your consent. The
installers are ~22 MB smaller.
The Windows builds are still unsigned, so Smart App Control may continue to
block the installer.
