XFB serves its playlists to a phone now, and hands out the phone app itself.

Take a set with you

Open Options › Sync to Phone, start serving, and show a pairing code. Scan
it with the phone's camera: the page it lands on offers the XFB companion app,
and pairing is one tap after that. From then on any playlist — or everything
marked for that phone — can be downloaded and played away from the desk.

The phone plays the set the way the desk would: XFB's crossfades and volume
lines, the same equalizer and compressor, and the 432 Hz retune. Two decks, as
on the desk, so a transition is mixed rather than cut.

Auto-mix on the phone works out a crossfade for joins nobody set, from the
silence at each end of a track, so "everything on this phone" plays as a set
rather than as a string of hard cuts. A crossfade set on the desk or dragged on
the phone is always left alone. It is a switch in the player's menu.

Syncing runs over your own network without encryption — pairing keeps other
people out of your library, but anyone on the same network can see which tracks
a paired phone downloads. XFB now says so, on the desk, on the phone, and on the
pairing page, so you can decide whether to serve on the network you are on.

The companion is included in this release: the macOS bundle, both .debs and both
Windows installers carry it, and the Arch package fetches it from here.

Also

  • The reminder to support XFB is a small notice in the corner of the window
instead of a dialog thrown in front of the splash screen. A playout desk
should never need dismissing before it will start.
  • The Sync to Phone dialog no longer cuts the bottom off the pairing QR.
  • Portuguese and French are up to date.

The Android app requires Android 7.0 or later. It is signed by Netpack and is
not distributed through Google Play; XFB hands it out itself.
