Station Backup — a second XFB, ready to take over
A radio station that loses its studio machine loses its air. XFB → Station Backup keeps a second XFB on your network holding everything this one holds — the catalogue, the music, the jingles, the ads, the programs, the schedule and the saved playlists — so going back on air is a matter of launching it, not of restoring a backup.
- The copy is pulled by the backup, never pushed. The backup can sit behind a firewall, be switched off for a fortnight, or move to another building, and the station on air neither knows nor cares.
- Set it up from the same window on both machines: the top half is for the machine on air, the bottom half for the one standing by.
- Interrupted downloads resume where they stopped, and a catalogue entry is only written once its file has actually arrived — a half-finished sync leaves a smaller working station, never a full one of dead entries.
- Sync on a timer, on startup, or when you ask.
- Pairing is the same six-digit exchange the phone companion uses, but a station token is only ever issued from the Station Backup window — a paired phone cannot read the whole station.
XFB_PROFILE=<name>starts a second, wholly separate XFB, so you can try all of this with two instances on one desk.
It fits a laptop screen now
- The player and clock panels used to be drawn at fixed pixel positions and never shrank: on a low-resolution screen the progress slider ran underneath the clock, and the clock lost its seconds. Both now lay themselves out for the width they are actually given.
- The side panel's pages scroll instead of hiding their lower half below the bottom edge.
- The music list can be resized properly again. The Torrents and Pads tabs were holding the whole panel at a size it could barely be dragged from — a tab widget is as large as its largest page, whichever page is showing. The window's minimum came down from 459×841 to 337×681.
- While the wave view is on, the progress bar gives up its row: the wave strip already draws the playhead. The volume slider no longer stretches into the space it leaves.
Auto Mode fixes
- Pressing Play on an empty running order now puts a track up and plays it. It never actually managed this before: the query that picks a track excluded the last played one by comparing against a value that is null until something has played, and SQL quietly filtered out every row.
- Auto Mode no longer cycles the same two or three tracks for hours. It only ever refused to repeat the track it had just played, which is useless whenever the pool is narrow — with tempo matching on, only analysed tracks have a BPM, and that set grows only from what has already been played. It now keeps a window of what it has put up lately (
AutoModeNoRepeatCount, default 10) and refuses all of it. - The Auto Mode and Play buttons have readable labels on their green and amber fills, which a dark theme was drawing in its own near-white.
