NGB v3.3.0 — MCP Server & AI Assistant
NGB v3.3.0 introduces a read-only MCP Server and a built-in AI Assistant, bringing natural-language access to existing business records, reports, and document history.
Both capabilities are available across Property Management, Trade, Agency Billing, CRM, and applications created from the NGB starter template.
Highlights
MCP Server
Connect compatible MCP clients directly to your NGB application's API.
- Discover available capabilities, metadata, and reports.
- Search records and read document details.
- Explore related documents, accounting entries, and register movements.
- Read audit history, Work Center tasks, notes, and attachment metadata.
- Extend the tool catalog with application-specific adapters over existing authorized reads.
The server uses stateless Streamable HTTP, supports OAuth resource discovery, and applies the current user's existing NGB permissions.
Built-in AI Assistant
Ask questions while working in the application:
What reports can I run?
What accounting entries and register movements did this document produce?
Who changed this document, when, and what changed?
How many units were vacant across all buildings as of today?
Available answers depend on the application's registered capabilities and the user's permissions.
The shared assistant interface includes:
- Current page and record context.
- Streaming Markdown answers, tables, and verified source links.
- A resizable desktop panel and mobile drawer.
- An animated activity indicator.
- Stop, Retry, and New chat controls.
Local and cloud model providers
Choose a provider in the API configuration and composition:
- Ollama for locally hosted models.
- OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions endpoints.
- Anthropic.
- Amazon Bedrock.
All providers use the same shared assistant UI. Provider credentials remain on the server.
Existing business rules remain authoritative
MCP and AI Assistant reuse existing application services, report calculations, and authorization.
They expose read-only tools without arbitrary SQL access. Application-specific extensions can expose existing capabilities; they do not create missing business calculations or report filters.
NGB keeps chat history in browser memory. Reloading the application clears the conversation.
Quality and developer tooling
- Added MCP unit and contract tests, HTTP/SDK integration tests, and external package-consumer checks.
- Added MCP certification gates for all four verticals.
- Updated platform documentation, configuration guidance, and the external application template.
- Registered the 3.2.0 → 3.3.0 application upgrade path.
Upgrading
Deploy matching NGB.Platform.* packages and @ngbplatform/ui at 3.3.0.
MCP and AI Assistant are disabled by default and require explicit deployment configuration:
FeatureManagement:McpFeatureManagement:AiAssistant
AI Assistant requires MCP and a configured model provider. MCP can also be used independently with external clients.
Follow the 3.2.0 → 3.3.0 upgrade guide.
