[1.62.3] - 2026-09-22
Documentation update.
Changed
- S3-compatible storage (MinIO, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, Ceph RGW, DigitalOcean Spaces, IBM COS, and
similar) is now documented as supported on a best-effort basis, replacing the previous "deprecated / strictly
as-is, with no support or assistance" wording. Such services remain outside the official test matrix, and features
that depend on Amazon S3 semantics (CRC64NVME and the other additional checksum algorithms, full-object checksums,
ETag-based conditional write/delete, object annotations, versioning and point-in-time snapshots, S3 Express One Zone)
may be unavailable or behave differently against non-AWS endpoints. Bug reports about S3-compatible storage are now
welcome, at lower priority than Amazon S3 issues and with no guarantee of a fix. This is a documentation and support
policy change only; no behavior of s3sync itself has changed. - Replaced the
Non-Goalssection of the READMEs with aMaintenance Modelsection that describes the dependency
update policy (regular, roughly monthly updates, sooner when a security advisory requires it) and how new SDK/S3
features are evaluated for adoption. - Reworded the
ScopeandAbout testingsections: Amazon S3 is described as the primary target rather than the
only supported platform, and requests for general S3 management operations now point
at s7cmd or the AWS CLI (aws s3api). - Set
/STACK:2000000via target-specificrustflagsforaarch64-pc-windows-msvc, and dropped the
