Unified Search 0.3.0
One search across several WordPress sites, backed by a shared Solr 9 collection. Install it on each site with the same Solr settings and a different site key: every site indexes its own pages and searches all of them.
Install
- Download
unified-search.zipbelow (not "Source code", which installs under the wrong folder name). - In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin → choose the zip → Activate.
- Create a Solr collection from the bundled configset (
solr/README.md), then fill in Unified Search → Settings and click Test connection. - Unified Search → Index → Re-index everything.
Later versions show up as normal plugin updates.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.0+, PHP 8.1+
- A Solr 9 server you run or rent. The plugin does not search the WordPress database, so it does nothing without Solr.
What's in it
- Search results page via
[unified_search], or replacing the normal WordPress search: "this site / all sites" switch, site and type filters, highlighted excerpts, paging - Indexing of the rendered page, so content from page builders and custom fields is searchable too; optional updates on publish
- A synonym list shared by every site, plus per-site keywords that put specific pages first
- Header search icon, a
/search/page, and a[unified_search_box]shortcode - A ready-made Solr configset; the field type and synonym list names are configurable
- WP-CLI:
wp unified-search status | preview | push | clear - Hooks for add-ons to index content that isn't a post
GPL-2.0-or-later.
