WANwatcher v1.3.2 - Documentation and Version Display Fixes

Release Date: October 29, 2025
Type: Patch Release

🐛 Fixed

CRITICAL - Documentation: Fixed email variable names in README.md (18 instances)

  • Corrected EMAIL_SMTP_SERVER → EMAIL_SMTP_HOST
  • Corrected EMAIL_USERNAME → EMAIL_SMTP_USER
  • Corrected EMAIL_PASSWORD → EMAIL_SMTP_PASSWORD
  • These corrections fix email configuration issues for users following README examples

CRITICAL - Version Display: Fixed hardcoded version strings in notification templates

  • All notifications now dynamically display the current version
  • Prevents version mismatch confusion (e.g., showing v1.3.1 after upgrading to v1.3.2)
  • Updated notifications.py to accept version parameter instead of hardcoding

Consistency: Updated wanwatcher.py (non-Docker) to use consistent variable names

  • Ensures consistency between Docker and non-Docker versions

📝 Documentation

  • README.md: Corrected all email configuration examples
  • TROUBLESHOOTING.md: Added comprehensive email/SMTP troubleshooting section
  • UPGRADING.md: Added v1.3.2 upgrade notes and migration instructions

⚠️ Migration from v1.3.1

If you configured email using README.md examples from v1.3.1 or earlier, update your variable names:

Old (incorrect):

EMAIL_SMTP_SERVER: "smtp.gmail.com" # ❌ Wrong
EMAIL_USERNAME: "user@gmail.com" # ❌ Wrong
EMAIL_PASSWORD: "password" # ❌ Wrong

New (correct):

EMAIL_SMTP_HOST: "smtp.gmail.com" # ✅ Correct
EMAIL_SMTP_USER: "user@gmail.com" # ✅ Correct
EMAIL_SMTP_PASSWORD: "password" # ✅ Correct

Docker images are functionally identical to v1.3.1. Only documentation corrections and version display improvements included.
