Jace Browser v1.0.1
The first release of Jace Browser, built on Firefox 159.0.
- Looks like Jace everywhere: a Jace new tab and home page, Jace toolbar icons, Jace's colors on every built-in page, and one settings page (Settings → Jace). Leftover Firefox and Mozilla text is rewritten; only the legal notices keep Mozilla's name. Websites still see a normal Firefox.
- Window buttons match your system: GNOME-style on Linux, Windows' own on Windows, traffic lights on macOS (Jace and Minimal styles still available).
- No Mozilla terms-of-use screen on first start.
- Signed in to Jace websites automatically: signing in to Jace Browser signs you in to the Jace website, and Jace's own apps skip the sign-in screen. Turn it off in about:jace.
- Vertical tab styles: names and icons, only icons, or only icons that grow when you hover.
- Profiles in Settings → Jace (each with its own tabs, passwords and Jace account).
- Jace-styled tab close buttons, menus and panels, in your accent color.
- Startup animation: the Jace logo draws itself in and zooms away to the browser. Press any key to skip, or turn it off in about:jace.
- First-run setup: choose your tabs, accent color and look, import from another browser, sign in with Jace and turn on sync, and make Jace Browser your default.
- Mozilla's tracking removed: telemetry, studies, crash reports, sponsored content, ad measurement, recommendations and background pings are off and locked. See about:jace → Privacy.
- Automatic updates: Jace Browser moves to each new Firefox release by itself, and installed copies download, verify and install new versions on their own.
- Jace Browser, a Firefox-based browser with a Zen-style look: one soft surface, pages floating as rounded cards, pill tabs, and Jace green.
- Vertical tabs, your choice. On by default; turn them off (or back on) with the tabs button in the toolbar, Ctrl+Alt+V (Cmd+Opt+V on macOS), or about:jace. Compact mode hides the sidebar until you hover the window edge.
- Jace account. Sign in with Jace from the account button. Your name and picture show in the toolbar.
- Jace sync, end-to-end encrypted with a sync passphrase only you know: bookmarks, history, passwords, open tabs, settings, your add-on list, and site sign-ins. Sign in to Jace on a new computer, enter your sync passphrase once, and you're signed in to the sites you use on your other devices.
- WebUSB (
navigator.usb), which Firefox doesn't have. Sites ask first, you pick the device, and keyboards, USB sticks, webcams and other protected devices are off-limits. Manage access in about:jace. - DRM: Widevine is on for Windows, macOS and Linux, so Netflix, Disney+, Spotify and other protected video and music play.
- Installers for Windows (setup .exe and portable .zip), macOS (.dmg for Apple Silicon and Intel) and Linux (AppImage and .tar.xz), built and tested by GitHub Actions.
Downloads for each platform are added here as their builds finish.
