Hi Codex team,
I use Codex Desktop daily and love the experience. One small but persistent
usability issue: the scrollbar in the chat area and sidebar is very thin
(
scrollbar-width: thin), making it hard to grab and navigate through longconversation histories.
Suggestions (any one of these would solve it):
[Easiest] Enable the
--enable devtoolsfeature flag.Currently
codex app --enable devtoolsreturns "Unknown feature flag."If enabled, users could open DevTools with F12 and inject custom CSS
without you needing to change any UI code.
[Nicest] Support a
desktop-plugins/directory like Hermes Desktop does.Users could drop a
plugin.jsfile that gets loaded on startup.Hermes already has a clean working implementation to reference.
[Middle ground] Add a "Scrollbar width" setting in preferences.
Three options: Thin / Standard / Wide would be enough.
For context, this is already trivially solvable on Hermes Desktop via its
desktop-plugins system. Would love to see Codex Desktop offer similar
extensibility.
Technical note: Chrome 121+ blocks
::-webkit-scrollbar { width }whenscrollbar-width: thinis set. The workaround requires overridingscrollbar-width: auto !importantfirst, then setting custom::-webkit-scrollbarrules.Thanks for considering!
