I strongly support this proposal. As a ChatGPT Plus subscriber and a professional software developer, I use Codex regularly for real-world Go and .NET projects. My biggest concern is not that I constantly exhaust my usage limits, but that I deliberately restrict my workflows to avoid doing so. For example, I rarely enable subagents or parallel code reviews because they consume my available quota much faster. This means I'm not fully utilizing Codex's capabilities. I would gladly consider paying around $50/month for an intermediate developer-focused subscription offering approximately 2–3× the Codex usage of Plus. I don't need unlimited usage, and the $100 Pro tier is difficult to justify for my current workload. A predictable mid-tier plan would be an excellent option for independent developers who need more freedom than Plus provides without upgrading all the way to Pro. |

I’d like to suggest a new subscription option for users who use Codex regularly but fall between Plus and Pro.
The problem
Plus is great for normal ChatGPT usage, but when I’m actively developing real projects with Codex, the usage limits can become restrictive. At the same time, I don’t use nearly enough to justify moving all the way to a $100/month plan.
The current 5-hour usage window can also be inconvenient for development. Coding workloads are uneven — I may use very little Codex for several hours and then need a lot of capacity while building, debugging, or testing something.
My suggestion: a $35/month Developer plan
I would personally be very interested in something like:
I don’t necessarily need twice the limits for every ChatGPT feature. What I want is a plan that allocates more of its value specifically to Codex and cloud development.
Why I think this tier makes sense
There seems to be a significant gap between users who occasionally use Codex and users who need the highest-tier plan.
For someone like me, Plus can be too limiting during serious development sessions, while $100/month is much more capacity and cost than I need.
A middle tier would create a much more natural upgrade path:
Plus ($20) → Developer (~$35) → Pro ($100)
Instead of stopping when I reach my Plus limits, I would seriously consider paying $35/month for roughly twice the Codex capacity and additional cloud resources.
I think this could be useful for students, independent developers, hobby developers, and people building real projects who need more than Plus but aren’t heavy enough users to justify Pro.
Thanks for considering it.
