Compatibility of models with Response API

I am using this sdk to build a mcp server connected local model which requires support for client.responses.create method which i internally belongs to \responses API which most models do not support.. can you help with which public and free models support these like to ones which can be downloaded locally.. i tried smollm2 but it fails with 404 API..
Also if you can update in help documentation what is the workaround in most of them dont support this?

Ok, now i re-look at this it feels like its Open-API feature issue rather than node-lib..

I also tried running this example https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/tools-connectors-mcp with gpt-oss model still 404
