v1.0.0
openglacier Core v1.0.0 — antaa palaa
First stable release.
openglacier Core v1.0.0 carries the code name antaa palaa. It means one thing: the core architecture
is now stable enough to build on.
This milestone comes after an extended period of real-world use and hostile testing: continuous fuzzing,
sustained read/write workloads, failure injection, storage corruption and I/O failure testing, crash recovery,
backup and restore validation, and a large integration test suite.
It has also been exercised across architectures and generations of hardware, from the Raspberry Pi 3 and 4 to
the Odroid XU4 and a Fairphone 2. Resources are valuable.
In this release
- Glacier, the native persistent storage engine (
OGD_STORAGE=glacier);ogdstill starts in memory when
no storage is set, GlacierDB on Glacier. - One package name: the crate is
openglacier-core, the binariesogdandogcli. install.shinstalls a release archive on Linux and macOS.- A default bootstrap password for a first local start, to be changed on any shared node.
- Release builds for every target through cross, with one pinned image per target.
- The code went through a 30-day consolidation pass: shared code staged, clippy clean, tests rewritten,
dependencies audited.
