v1.2.0 - Radio-Aware Monitoring and Smarter Updates
openHop Repeater Integration 1.2.0 for Home Assistant expands radio monitoring, improves software update handling, and adds richer health diagnostics, dashboards, and automation controls.
Radio-Aware Monitoring
- Added individual radio child devices with read-only configuration details.
- Added radio ID aliases to preserve existing device names and entity identities when backend radio IDs change.
- Added automatic retirement and restoration of removed radios, with permanent removal available when desired.
- Added single-fabric support.
- Added aggregate radio health and problem indicators for easier monitoring.
Smarter Software Updates
-
Added native Home Assistant update controls.
-
Update checks now run at one minute past each hour while respecting:
- Backend caching
- Active installations
- Rate-limit holds
-
Removed GitHub-backed branch discovery from automatic polling.
-
Improved update status reporting with clearer states such as:
- GitHub Limited
- Not checked
-
Software that has not been checked is no longer incorrectly reported as up to date.
Expanded Telemetry & Controls
Added or improved support for:
- Repeater-wide flood and direct traffic counters
- Duplicate packet counters
- Plugin health
- Sensor/source freshness
- Battery charging and discharging state
- MQTT neighbor-publication controls
- Advert scheduling
- Neighbor-history controls
- Longer-running action timeouts
Companion actions can now optionally return status and telemetry data for automations, with explicit errors when sends fail.
Dashboards & Automation
-
Reorganized the comprehensive example dashboard.
-
Added a new compact operations dashboard.
-
Added radio-health indicators and clearer update status displays.
-
Added 7 opt-in alert blueprints for:
- Repeater availability
- MQTT disconnection
- Low battery
- High temperature
- Stale sensor readings
- Plugin failures
- Available updates
-
Expanded diagnostic redaction and documentation.
Compatibility
There are no intentional breaking changes.
- Existing
pymc_repeaterintegration and service identifiers remain unchanged. - Backend radio ID changes require an operator-confirmed alias to preserve identity.
- Simply renaming a radio/device in Home Assistant does not require an alias.
- Per-sensor freshness uses individual polling intervals when provided by the backend.
- Older Repeater versions continue using the global polling-interval fallback.
- Companion backend polling metadata changes are not included in this release.
