We'd like to put together a Collaborator Summit this August in San Francisco.

We've chosen San Francisco mostly for cost reasons (a good percentage of contributors are on the west coast and we have a lot of offers for free space to host it in) and for ease of organizing since myself and some of the other people who will be helping to organize it live here.

Any active contributor to node.js core or a Working Group is invited. There is no ticket cost but you must be an active contributor.

There will not be any speakers, this is not a conference, this is essentially two days of meetings about technical and project issues.

If you can attend please comment on this thread so we can get an accurate count. If you need travel assistance please note it. The foundation will set a budget for travel assistance and the TSC will prioritize the list of people who need assistance based on the available budget.

  1. Hopefully!
  2. Depends, closer to the time I would have better info. I may or may not still be on the west coast at that time, and any company assistance is of course TBD at this time. (Since no one has picked me up quite yet.)

👍 Definitely can be there.

@therebelrobot

That is about 10 days earlier than what I'd be able to make. I'm getting married the 5th in Utah, then relocating to Pacifica on the 15th :P If there is a way of dialing in via skype or google, that would be spectacular.

I would have very much liked to attend. Not sure how feasible it is since I am all the way on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, in Norway.

As of now, I can make it on those dates. I'm good for travel.

I might be able to attend. I can do any time in August, but not later than Monday the 30th through December. I can pay for most if not all of my round-trip airfare, but a hotel/place to stay is a sticking point for me. Is there any possibility that I can get assistance on that?

It'd be helpful to have a better idea of what kind of agenda would be set so I know whether this is a justifiable business trip or a vacation.

@Fishrock123
Copy link

What would be good for some of the agenda would probably be to dig up some of the items in nodejs/node#1795.

Edit: as per below, NG is also an excellent topic.

@yosuke-furukawa

I would like to be there. But I have plans for August 21, 22. the other days are free.
I would like to discuss Next Generation Node :D

@misterdjules

I can make it too 👍

@fhemberger

Sorry, this is a bit too far away for me (coming from Germany), I also have plans already for those two days. 😞

I should be able to make it anytime during August. 👍

@piscisaureus

Those days work for me.
(I can make most other days in August as well, but not August 11-15).

Maybe around at this time.

@rosskukulinski

  1. Those dates should work for me
  2. I'm local, so travel is no problem

@sam-github

Dates work for me.

@nodebotanist

I don't know if I count as an active contributor on the hardware working group, but if I do, those dates work for me.

I would need travel assistance.

I'm local. I might be traveling on the 6th. Shouldn't have any issues on the August 7th.

@joemccann

I'll be in town around then, but happy to have @dshaw represent to keep group smaller and focused.

@trevnorris

Can potentially go, but don't want to commit (e.g. buy a plane ticket) until there's an agenda outline available.

@orangemocha

I should be able to make it (all I have to do is cross the Atlantic 😉 )

@evanlucas

I am planning on it.

I haven't been as active on the tracing WG as I'd like, but I'll plan on
being there, unless there are objections.

I can make it those days and would like to go. But I'm lacking time to be an active contributor, so I don't expect to be on the top of the priority list. I'm living in Norway, so I need to cross the Atlantic Ocean. I'll need travel assistance.

@jbergstroem

Unfortunately can't make it those dates. What a great idea though! 👍

@groundwater

Would like to attend anything tracing related. I can also offer space to host.

@chrisdickinson
Copy link

I may be able to attend, will check.

Since we're far-flung and SF might not be easy to travel to for everyone, it might be a good idea to see if we can eventually turn this into a regional thing, either a la nodebots with simulcasting, or as a "traveling meetup" of sorts.

First session starts at 10am :) We have a few threads in this repo where we're nailing down the agenda for each session. There's no registration other than letting us know in this thread :)

I can attend (from Docs and Benchmarking WGs).

@drewfish

I would like to attend if appropriate. My only contribution so far is a meaty PR in the docs repo.

edit Hmmm... thinking about it, I've contributed very little so far, so I rescind my request. Perhaps next time!
