Skills Palette v0.4.3

Choose a tag to compare

@orbenozio orbenozio released this 06 Jul 07:28

Fix in 0.4.3

Clicking the panel button could blank Claude's chat and fail to open the palette.

The injected button was a <button> that synthesized an anchor click to the vscode: deep link. A synthesized a.click() arrives with event.view === null, so VSCode's webview link handler ignores it and the sandboxed frame self-navigates to the vscode: URI - blanking the chat and never routing to the extension. The button is now a real <a> the user clicks directly, so VSCode intercepts the click and opens the palette via openExternal without navigating the frame.

Update

Click the Skills item in the status bar -> Check for Updates -> Update now -> reload. Or download the VSIX below and install via Extensions -> ... -> Install from VSIX.

v0.4.2 - self-update + status-bar badge

@orbenozio orbenozio released this 14 Jun 16:24

What's new in 0.4.2

  • Self-update from GitHub Releases. On startup (at most once a day) the extension checks for a newer release and offers a one-click Update now that downloads and installs the latest VSIX, then prompts to reload - so a hand-installed VSIX can stay current.
  • Status-bar update badge. The item shows the running version (e.g. Skills v0.4.2) and switches to Skills v0.4.2 → v0.4.3 on a warning background when an update exists. Click it for a menu: open the palette or Check for Updates.
  • New Skills Palette: Check for Updates command and a claudeCodeSkillsPalette.autoUpdateCheck setting.

Install

Download claude-code-skills-palette.vsix below, then in VSCode: Extensions -> ... -> Install from VSIX -> pick the file -> reload. After this version, future updates can be installed straight from the in-app prompt.

v0.4.1 - version in the status bar

Choose a tag to compare

@orbenozio orbenozio released this 14 Jun 16:05

What's new in 0.4.1

  • The status-bar item now shows the running extension version next to its label (e.g. Skills v0.4.1), read from the manifest so it always reflects the installed build.

Install

Download claude-code-skills-palette.vsix below, then in VSCode: Extensions -> ... -> Install from VSIX -> pick the file -> reload.

v0.4.0 - 3-row cards + open-folder icon

Choose a tag to compare

@orbenozio orbenozio released this 13 Jun 11:06

What's new in 0.4.0

  • Consistent three-row skill cards in both Grid and List views: name + tags, a one-line description, then all controls on one row.
  • Open-folder icon on each card opens that skill's folder in your OS file manager, so you can edit its files or rename it.
  • Preview is now a compact icon button (with tooltip) next to the open-folder icon.
  • List view cards are full-width blocks instead of a cramped horizontal row - long names, descriptions and buttons no longer collide or overflow.
  • Long skill names truncate to one line, with the full name on hover.

Install

Download claude-code-skills-palette.vsix below, then in VSCode: Extensions -> ... -> Install from VSIX -> pick the file -> reload.

Skills Palette 0.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@orbenozio orbenozio released this 10 Jun 10:46

Skills Palette 0.3.1

Internal change, no behaviour difference for users.

  • The palette webview client now ships as a static file (webview/palette-client.js) loaded via a nonce'd script reference, instead of being generated inline from function source at runtime.
  • Initial state is passed as a non-executable JSON data block rather than embedded in inline code.
  • This removes dynamically-assembled script patterns, which also makes the extension distributable through an extension marketplace.

Install

Download claude-code-skills-palette.vsix below, then in VSCode: Extensions -> ... -> Install from VSIX -> pick the file -> Reload.

Skills Palette 0.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@orbenozio orbenozio released this 09 Jun 17:05

Skills Palette 0.3.0

You can now point the palette at any Skills Hub folder - and do it from inside the palette, no settings.json editing.

What's new

  • Configurable hub folder, from the UI. A new gear button in the palette header opens Settings - Browse to your hub folder, or paste a path and Save. The skill list refreshes immediately.
  • New setting claudeCodeSkillsPalette.hubPath (supports a leading ~ and ${env:VAR}). Leave it empty to use the default ~/.claude/SkillsHub.
  • Works out of the box for any user. The default hub is derived from your home folder - no machine-specific path baked in.
  • Actionable empty state. When no hub is set or it is empty, the palette shows a clear 'Set hub folder...' prompt instead of a blank list.

Install

Download claude-code-skills-palette.vsix below, then in VSCode: Extensions -> ... -> Install from VSIX -> pick the file -> Reload. (VSIX installs do not auto-update - reinstall to upgrade.)

Skills Palette v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@orbenozio orbenozio released this 09 Jun 07:02

What's new in 0.2.0

  • Two top-level view tabs in the palette: Hub (the whole hub, as before) and This project (only what is linked here).
  • The project view splits its skills into a Local section (linked to this project only) and a Global section (linked globally, active in every project). A skill linked both ways shows only under Global.
  • The This project tab is disabled until a project folder is open, and falls back to Hub if the project closes.
  • Category counts and the All Skills total are scoped to the active tab.

Install

Download claude-code-skills-palette.vsix below, then in VSCode: Extensions -> ... -> Install from VSIX -> pick the file -> Reload Window.

Then in VSCode: Extensions → ⋯ → Install from VSIX → pick the file → reload.

Highlights

  • A "plug" button in the Claude Code panel toggles the palette and stays lit while open.
  • Webview palette: clickable category sidebar, search, theme-coloured cards.
  • In-panel README preview (rendered Markdown) with a sticky Back bar.
  • One-click link/unlink of a skill into the current project or globally (Windows junctions); project link disabled for already-global skills.
  • Assign categories from a card (writes a central manifest in the hub).
