  • offset-rollback (snapshot / list / show / rollback / verify /
    delete), show-offset-mapping, offset-reset (plan / execute /
    script), offset-reset-bulk and status --path now honour storage URLs
    (s3://, file://, azure://, gcs://) in --path. They used to treat
    the URL as a relative local directory: offset-rollback snapshot --path s3://bucket/prefix reported success but wrote to ./s3:/bucket/prefix
    (lost when the container exited), and list / status then reported "No
    offset snapshots found" / "Manifest: Not found" with exit 0. Bare local
    paths are unchanged. (#174)
  • --path values that look like storage URLs but can't be honoured now fail
    before any Kafka I/O instead of falling back to a local directory: unknown
    schemes ("Unknown storage scheme"), memory://, an s3:// / gcs:// URL
    with no bucket, an empty path, and a known scheme with a mangled separator
    such as s3:/bucket (with a "did you mean s3://bucket" hint).

  • The CLI test suite (kafka-backup-cli, a binary-only crate skipped by
    cargo test --lib) now runs in CI, plus a MinIO round trip for
    --path s3://.

Changed

  • The "Created S3/Azure/GCS backend" log line is now debug (it was info,
    which the CLI writes to stdout and would have corrupted --format json
    output from the commands above). The S3 line includes the endpoint
    object_store will actually use (AWS_ENDPOINT_URL_S3 > AWS_ENDPOINT_URL /
    endpoint, else "AWS default"); run with -v to see it.
  • --help for every --path resolved this way lists the accepted forms,
    including ?endpoint= for MinIO / Ceph RGW. "No offset snapshots found"
    now says where it looked, and the rollback hint quotes --path.
