Screen Mirror PiP 0.5.0 (beta)

Mirror your iPhone's screen into a small window over your game in Gaming Mode, with the iPhone's built-in
Screen Mirroring (AirPlay). Sound plays from the Deck. No setup and no extra app: the AirPlay receiver comes with the plugin.

Highlights

  • Window over any game, any corner and size; phone-shaped, or fill a wide window. Opens and closes by itself.
  • Mirror volume: just the iPhone's sound; game sound untouched.
  • Approved phones only (optional): a new iPhone types a PIN once; a notification shows the PIN.
  • Rename the Deck, quality presets (1080p / 720p / 540p), 60 fps, low delay mode.
  • Recovers by itself after sleep, Wi-Fi changes and receiver crashes.
  • Check setup and Save problem report built in.

Install

Decky settings > Developer mode on > Developer > Install Plugin from URL:
Or download screen-mirror-pip-v0.5.0.zip` below and use Install Plugin from ZIP File.
Then on the iPhone: Control Center > Screen Mirroring > Steam Deck.

Known limits

  • About 0.1-0.3 s of delay: great for watching, not for playing iPhone games through the Deck.
  • Same Wi-Fi; guest networks with client isolation block AirPlay discovery.
  • Copy-protected video (e.g. Netflix) shows black, as on any AirPlay receiver.
  • Uses undocumented Steam internals for the overlay; a Steam update can break it.

Status

Beta. Mirroring is confirmed on a Steam Deck (SteamOS 3.8) with an iPhone; newer options (PIN, 60 fps, low delay)
are tested in a SteamOS-like environment.
Problems: More > Help > Save problem report and attach the file to an issue.

Licenses

Plugin code: BSD-3-Clause. Bundled receiver: UxPlay (GPL-3.0), FFmpeg AAC/ALAC decoders, GStreamer plugins and
libplist (LGPL-2.1+). Their complete sources are attached below as screen-mirror-pip-v0.5.0-third-party-sources.tar.
