v1.7.0
Changelog
1.7.0
- The panel shows a preview of the selected popup template under the template picker, an animated loop of the whole popup, drawn by the popup renderer itself (the slide in from the screen edge is not part of it). Preview as picks common, uncommon, rare or ultra rare. The Test buttons stay.
- New template: PS3 Trophy (top right, glossy dark bar, trophy picture, grade-coloured cup).
- New option: screenshot on unlock (off by default), with Include the popup and a Test screenshot button. Saved to
Pictures/Finally Achievements/Screenshots. - The popup's environment settings now come from one function shared by the popup and the preview.
- The panel title is one line, so it no longer covers the Show dropdown.
- New
finally_screenshot.pyhelper andtests/test_screenshot_preview.py.
v1.6.3
Near-instant popups and TV placement
Popups now appear about a second after an achievement is earned, instead of 10-15 seconds later.
What changed since v1.6.2
- Popups no longer wait on slow downloads. The icon, unlock percentage, description and game art now load at the same time, and the popup waits for them at most 1 second. Anything slower is left out of that popup and saved for the next one. Before, each was waited for in turn with multi-second network timeouts, plus a gray-icon check and retries.
- Unlocks are read the moment Steam writes them. A change to Steam's
UserGameStatsfile is read as soon as Linux reports it, instead of waiting for Steam's library data, which lags. The backup check now runs every 0.25 seconds instead of every second. - Downloads happen ahead of time. When a game starts, its unlock percentages, game icon and art, and the icons of achievements still locked are downloaded and checked. An unlock's popup then reads them from disk.
- Cheaper gray-icon check. It runs in one helper that stays running instead of starting a new Python process per icon, and each icon's answer is saved.
- Faster when a display fails. A display setup the popup couldn't open on is skipped for 10 minutes instead of being tried first on every popup.
- MangoApp is stopped earlier. It now stops while the unlock sound's lead-in plays instead of after it.
- TV placement fix. With the popup screen size on "auto", popups use the screen size Steam's own interface reports, so they land in the right place on a TV.
v1.6.2
A tester on a Steam Machine reported popups only appearing after pressing the Steam button, or 1–2 minutes late, and then with just a title.
The plugin now reads Steam’s own stats file directly, so an unlock should show up about a second after Steam writes it.
Names and descriptions now come from Steam’s local schema first. It has every language and includes secret achievements, so descriptions don’t go missing.
Nothing is shown twice if another detection path catches the unlock first.
Unlock history: a list of recent unlocks with the game, rarity and time. It starts from the day you install 1.6.0 and keeps the last 500. There are “Show more” and “Clear history” buttons.
Share card: select an unlock to make a 1200×630 image with the icon, name, description, rarity, game and date. It’s saved to Pictures/Finally Achievements and previewed in the panel. The plugin doesn’t post anywhere. You open or copy the file yourself.
Session summary: when you close a game, one popup such as “3 unlocked, 1 rare”. It only appears if you unlocked something.
Almost there alert: a popup such as “Only 2 achievements left”. You set the count from 1 to 5, and it fires once per count. It skips finished games and games with very few achievements.
Languages: English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese and Polish.
