Instant conversions

Type a conversion into Command Space and get the answer immediately. Press Enter to copy it, just like the calculator.

  • 10 km to miles, 70 kg in lbs, 32 F to C
  • 90 min to hours, 60 mph to km/h, 1 GiB to MB
  • 255 to hex, plus binary and octal conversions

Supports length, mass, temperature, volume, time, speed, area, energy, pressure, angles, data sizes, and integer number bases. Conversions run entirely on your Mac without a model or network request. Bits and bytes are distinct, cooking-volume conventions are labelled, and currency rates or weight-to-volume conversions are not guessed.

Screen intelligence

Open ⌘Space over the app you want to ask about, then ask “summarize this page”, “explain the highlighted text”, or “what's in this image?”

  • Preserves the source app when you open the launcher.
  • Captures available selected text, accessible page/window text, browser links, and Finder selections.
  • Sends source-window images as real image attachments to Codex, Claude Code, or a vision-capable opencode model.
  • A viewfinder button lets you choose automatic context, attach it explicitly, or exclude it. A preview strip shows what will be shared.
  • Highlighted-text questions share only the passage unless you ask about the wider page/image or explicitly attach it.
  • Screen questions go straight to System Two rather than being intercepted by instant actions.
  • Text-only opencode models fall back to readable text with a notice, or ask for a vision-capable model when only an image is available.

Enable window images

Go to Settings → General → Screen intelligence → Enable window images…, grant Screen Recording permission, and reopen Command Space over the source app. Text capture uses Accessibility permission. Opening the launcher does not request new Automation or Screen Recording permissions.

Context stays local until you send a relevant request or explicitly attach it. It then goes to your chosen harness and may be retained in its history. Command Space does not save screenshot files. Text and image capture can be disabled separately in Settings.

Install or update

Existing installations: choose Check for Updates… from the menu bar.

New installations: download Command-Space.dmg, open it, and drag Command Space to Applications. The app is signed but not notarized, so macOS may block the first launch. Follow the first-launch instructions in the README.

Requires macOS 14 or later; voice input requires macOS 26 or later.

Validation

  • 78 Swift tests and 10 local-model proxy tests pass locally.
  • Generated-image integration checks passed through Codex, Claude Code, and opencode before release. These checks did not upload a real screen capture; the OS permission and real-screen capture flow still needs a permission-backed smoke test.
