Honcho Dashboard 1.3.0
v1.3.0
What changed
- Custom instructions for every agent. On Honcho 3.3.0, the workspace config now has a SHARED_INSTRUCTIONS field and an override for each agent: Reasoning (the deriver), Summary, Dream, Peer card, and the new Dialectic section for peer and workspace chat. Each override can also be set to "No instructions". Fields start collapsed with a one-line summary, and any field Honcho rejects on save opens automatically (#21).
- Config saves keep what the form doesn't show. Honcho replaces each config section it receives, so saving from the dashboard could drop settings the form didn't display, like per-agent instructions set through the SDK. The form now edits on top of the stored config. This also fixes RESET never clearing a value on the server.
- Instruction sources. REASONING_CONFIG shows where each agent's instructions came from, like
workspace.sharedorworkspace.dream. - Trace details show the new
custom_instructions_refas a hash. The instruction text itself is never shown. - Session clone warning. Cloning a session on a server older than 3.3.0 now warns that it can copy data from a same-named session in another workspace. Honcho fixed this in 3.3.0.
- Proxy fix. Large responses through a compressing reverse proxy like Traefik failed with
ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILEDand left the server version unverified. They load correctly now. Contributed by @svallory (#19). - Security updates. Next.js 16.3.8 and patched dependencies, including
sharpin the image. Contributed by @svallory (#15). - Panel corner icons no longer look clickable, and conclusions use an arrow between observer and observed.
- Updated the Honcho SDK to 2.6.0.
Compatibility
No breaking changes. Existing .env and Compose files work unchanged. The new instruction fields only appear when the server reports Honcho 3.3.0 or later. On 3.2 and older or unverified servers they stay hidden, and any instructions already stored are sent back unchanged when you save. Honcho 3.1 and 3.2 features work as before. See the 3.3.0 validation guide for what was tested.
Upgrade
Update the dashboard image to ghcr.io/outpoints/honcho-dashboard:1.3.0, restart the dashboard, and reload open browser tabs. This update requires no database migration or configuration change.
You can upgrade the dashboard before or after Honcho 3.3.0. If you set instructions through the SDK or API, upgrade the dashboard first, because saving the workspace config from 1.2.x can drop them. Honcho 3.3.0 has its own database migration and settings changes, so read its release notes before upgrading the server.
Known limitation
- The proxy fix was tested with a compressing test server, not a live Traefik setup.
- A default bearer token can still only be set at build time. If your Honcho server requires auth, add the token to the instance under CONFIG.
