1.6.0
Instagram Feed now works with Kirby 5 and Kirby 6.
New
- Kirby 6 support. One release for Kirby 5 and Kirby 6.
- Images and videos from your own server. With the
storeoption, the plugin downloads the images and videos of your feed tomedia/instagram-feed, and the snippet only uses these files. Your visitors' browsers then don't load anything from Instagram, which helps with privacy laws like the GDPR. Files of posts that leave the feed are deleted.$feed->media()and$feed->thumbnail()are Kirby assets, so you can create thumbnails, e.g.$feed->media()->resize(600). - The last feed stays visible. If the Instagram API fails, your site keeps showing the last feed and the plugin tries again after an hour. Before, an empty feed was shown for a whole day.
- Refresh with a cron job.
kirby instagram-feed:refreshfetches the feed with the Kirby CLI, so no visitor has to wait for Instagram. - Snippet options. Limit the number of posts and choose their types:
snippet('instagram-feed', ['limit' => 6, 'types' => ['image', 'album']]). Each image or video comes from the newinstagram-feed/mediasnippet, which you can override insite/snippets/instagram-feed/media.php.
Fixes
- The
storeoption works again. On Kirby 5 it didn't store any file. Files in the old foldermedia/plugins/owebstudio/instagram-feedare no longer used and can be deleted. - The plugin uses the access token that Instagram returns when it renews the token. The renewed token is kept in
site/config/.instagram-feed-token, so keep this file when you deploy your site. When you set a new token in your config, the plugin uses the new one. - A failed token renewal is tried again after an hour instead of on every request.
Changes
- The snippet uses the caption as
alttext instead oftitle, loads images lazily and plays videos inline on iOS. - The "Buy a license" link in the Panel opens the checkout directly.
Requirements
- Kirby 5 or 6 and PHP 8.2 or newer (Kirby 6 needs PHP 8.3 or newer). On Kirby 3 and 4, keep using 1.4.0.
License: oweb studio Commercial License. Live sites need a license key.
1.5.0
Security
- The default
instagram-feedsnippet now escapes the caption, the links and the media URLs. Before, a caption with quotes or HTML could break the markup or inject scripts into your page. If you copied the README examples into your own templates, update them the same way (see the README).
Fixes
- The plugin no longer runs on every request. Before, once the feed cache had expired and Kirby's pages cache was on, every request (Panel and API included) cleared the whole pages cache and waited for the Instagram API. Now only the pages that show the feed are cached until the feed expires, and all other cached pages stay untouched. Clear the pages cache once after updating.
License
- Instagram Feed is now a commercial plugin under the oweb studio Commercial License. Live sites need a license key, local and staging sites don't.
- Activate your key in the Panel: open the System view and click the license status of Instagram Feed. Keys of the former oweb studio bundle work too.
- Without a key on a live site, the plugin doesn't renew the Instagram access token. The feed keeps working until the token expires (60 days after it was created or last renewed). After that, the snippet renders nothing. Your site never shows an error.
- Versions up to 1.4.0 stay under the MIT license.
Requirements
- Kirby 5 and PHP 8.2 or newer. On Kirby 3 and 4, keep using 1.4.0.
- The Composer package is now called
owebstudio/kirby-instagram-feed. Your config options (owebstudio.instagram-feed.*) don't change.
