PDF Extractor Desktop processes documents on the computer instead of uploading them to the extraction service. It supports local batch extraction, local history, and unlimited local page processing under its desktop license.

Feature callout: Choose the matching platform at the top of the download page. The panels below it summarize installation, activation, and the local-processing model. Current price and platform availability are shown on the live download page.
- Open the Desktop download page.
- Choose the build for the computer's operating system and processor.
- Install and open the application.
- Start the available trial or enter a purchased license.
License activation, recovery, and update checks may use the internet. PDF document content remains on the computer during extraction.
- Drag one or more PDFs into the extraction area or use the file picker.
- Choose element categories such as Image, Table, and Text.
- Open the advanced options if you need a page range, different image settings, OCR, or a protected-PDF password.
- Select Extract and follow the page-by-page progress.
- Open the output folder or revisit the run under History.
Use Settings to choose the output location, manage local processing options, and download the Advanced OCR model when supported.
Standard OCR uses the computer's Tesseract installation. It is a fast choice for straightforward printed text. If the desktop app cannot find Tesseract, install the appropriate package for the operating system and restart the app.
Advanced OCR uses a locally downloaded vision model for complex layouts, irregular tables, multiple columns, and handwriting. Download the model in Settings before its first use. The model is large, so the initial download needs a stable internet connection and enough disk space.
Advanced OCR supports:
- plain text in reading order;
- layout-aware Markdown with headings, lists, tables, and figure markers;
- structured JSON for software workflows.
Hardware support and performance vary by platform. If Advanced OCR is unavailable or slow, use Standard OCR or extraction without OCR and include the app version and hardware details in a bug report.
Desktop history is stored locally. Completed runs can open their output folders, and removing a history entry does not necessarily remove files already written to another folder. Check the confirmation message before deleting anything.
- PDF content is processed locally.
- Outputs are written to the chosen local folder.
- License activation, trial verification, recovery, and update checks may contact the PDF Extractor service.
- A public issue should never contain a private PDF, license key, device identifier, local path, or screenshot with personal information.
See Troubleshooting for installation, OCR, model-download, and extraction checks.
Report a reproducible desktop bug or request a desktop enhancement in the public issue tracker. Use private support for licensing, recovery, billing, privacy, security, or document-specific questions.
