FAQ
These answers match the current product Help content. Account, subscription, and checkout screens are authoritative for current prices, allowances, and retention periods.
Open Extract, upload a PDF, choose categories such as Image, Table, or Text, and select Extract Elements. The completed items appear on the Results page. See the step-by-step guide.
The app currently accepts PDF files. Export another document type to PDF before uploading it.
Yes. The web service requires an account. Registration is free and uses an email address and password; Google sign-in may also be available.
Categories control which page elements are detected: Image, Table, Text, Title, Section Title, Caption, Footnote, Expression, Entry, Header, and Footer. Selecting fewer categories can reduce processing time and unwanted results.
Confirm that the category is selected. An item may also fall below the minimum width or height, or the source page may be a low-resolution scan. Try a higher DPI, smaller minimum dimensions, OCR, or a slightly lower confidence threshold.
Yes. Enter the PDF password in Advanced Settings before extracting. An incorrect password causes the extraction to fail.
Start with a smaller page range, lower DPI, or fewer categories. Large PDFs may need to be processed in ranges such as pages 1–50 and 51–100. See Troubleshooting for error-specific checks.
Batch extraction is available on the Business plan. Free and Starter accounts process one PDF at a time.
When Store File is enabled, the service temporarily stores the extraction results so you can reopen and download them from history. When it is disabled, results are returned for immediate download and are not available later.
Files expire according to the retention period shown for the account's plan. Download anything you need to keep permanently.
History can show the job record even after stored files expire or are deleted. Turn on the expired/deleted filter to review those records. Expired files cannot be downloaded again without rerunning the extraction.
Each plan has a monthly page allowance shown in the account and subscription screens. Upgrade or wait for the next reset if an account reaches a hard limit.
Plans that allow overages can continue at the displayed per-page rate. If a plan does not allow overages, new extraction requests are rejected until the allowance resets or the plan is changed.
Extra pages accumulate at the plan's displayed rate and normally appear on the next Stripe invoice at renewal. Current-cycle usage is shown in the account dashboard.
Open the Subscription page and use the billing portal to update payment details, change plans, or cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless the billing screen says otherwise.
Use OCR when text in the PDF cannot be selected or copied, which is common in scans and image-only pages. OCR adds processing time.
Standard OCR uses Tesseract for direct character recognition. Advanced OCR uses a layout-aware vision model and is better suited to complex columns, irregular tables, and handwriting. Advanced OCR works in whole-page mode.
- Text follows the natural reading order without layout markup.
- Markdown retains headings, lists, tables, emphasis, and figure markers that can be linked to extracted Image crops.
- JSON provides structured page, block, and table data for software workflows.
Yes. Structured table extraction operates on detected Table regions and can return Markdown, HTML, or CSV independently of the page OCR mode. Select the Table category and enable the table extraction option.
Connections use TLS and stored data is encrypted at rest. Stored files expire after the account's retention period. For maximum privacy, disable cloud storage or use the Desktop application. The privacy policy contains the full terms.
With cloud storage enabled, the document and results are retained temporarily and then deleted under the applicable retention rules. With storage disabled, results are not retained for later access. The document is used to perform the requested processing.
Data sent to and from the service uses TLS. Sensitive stored data is encrypted at rest. Download results promptly and disable storage when later access is unnecessary.
The service uses account details, preferences, usage, and basic technical data needed to operate the product. Stripe processes payment details. PDF content is retained only under the storage behavior selected for the extraction. See the privacy policy for the current, complete description.
Access is limited to authorized personnel and contracted providers needed to operate the service. Account records remain while the account is active; extraction results follow the plan's retention period; some operational, payment, and legal records may remain longer. Personal information is not sold.
Cookies support authentication, preferences, and product operation. Depending on location, a user may request access, correction, deletion, or a marketing opt-out. Use private support for a privacy request.
Yes. Create a token on the API Tokens page, use it as a bearer token, and revoke it immediately if it is exposed. See the API guide.
Yes. The PDF Extractor MCP server connects compatible AI clients to the API. See the MCP setup guide.
