codemap v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@peterretief peterretief released this 05 Nov 11:30

The map now works on big modules. It used to shrink to fit the page, so Hugo's labels were too small to read and Kubernetes' map collapsed to a strip. Long rows now wrap and the map scrolls at full size, so names stay readable at any size.

Picking a package in the lists brings it into view on the map. The page opens on your module's own package, or its largest, and long package names break at a slash.

Tested against a plain-text count on cobra, gin, hugo, prometheus and kubernetes: packages, files and functions all match. Kubernetes (1,278 packages, 34,823 functions) takes under 2 seconds.

codemap turns any Go module into one HTML page: every package in layers, what each one uses and what uses it, and every function in every file, searchable and linked to its line on GitHub.

Run it in your module's folder, with nothing to install:

go run github.com/peterretief/codemap@latest -o code-map.html

Open the file in a browser, or put it on any website. Click a package to light up its links. It also runs as a GitHub Action.

The first release: dark by default with a Light button, colours by top-level folder, and links already implied by others hidden until you pick a package, so big modules stay readable.
