Features

  • add API providers with searchable model selection
  • refresh desktop dependencies and AI provider management

Documentation

  • clarify agent product constraints

Other

  • test: await lazy Markdown renderer before assertions

Changes since v0.11.0.

Install

Open the disk image, drag simstim into Applications, launch it. Signed
with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so there is nothing to
bypass. ASR models download inside the app on first run
(onboarding).

Optional AI: choose Connect Claude or Connect ChatGPT and finish browser sign-in.
Or use your own OpenAI, Anthropic or OpenRouter API key in Settings, with searchable model selection.
Keys stay in macOS Keychain; API usage is billed separately by your provider.
No terminal or Simstim account is required; AI setup can be skipped.

Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple Silicon.

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Sep 22:18

Simstim 0.11 records and transcribes calls locally into Markdown files. Optional summaries and questions use your existing Claude or ChatGPT setup.

Changes since 0.10

  • Connect Claude or ChatGPT from onboarding or Settings. Simstim installs the official helper and opens provider-owned browser sign-in. No terminal or Simstim account is required.
  • Keep recording, transcription, notes, playback and search available when AI setup is skipped.
  • Protect session files from overlapping recording, transcription, summary and edit operations.
  • Updated README, configuration, privacy and development guides, with obsolete plans and design documents removed.

Install

Download Simstim_0.11.0_aarch64.dmg, open it and drag Simstim into Applications. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Requires macOS 14.2 or later on Apple Silicon. Speech models download on first launch. AI setup is optional; provider plan limits and billing settings apply.

To update from an earlier version, quit Simstim and replace the app in Applications. Your notes, models and configuration remain in place.

All changes since 0.10.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Sep 19:45

The first simstim beta: local call transcription, ordinary Markdown files, and optional AI through your own Claude or ChatGPT account.

  • Record microphone and system audio locally, with a live transcript and a more accurate pass after the call.
  • Keep notes, transcripts and recordings in your own folder. No Simstim account, telemetry or export subscription.
  • Connect Claude or ChatGPT from onboarding or Settings. Simstim can install the official helper and open provider-owned browser sign-in; no terminal is required.
  • Skip AI and keep using recording, transcription, playback, notes and search. Optional AI sends text, never audio; provider plan limits and billing settings apply.

Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple Silicon. The default speech models download approximately 1.55 GB on first launch. Me/Them identify audio channels, not individual remote speakers. Recognition and timestamps can be imperfect; beta updates are manual.

Features

  • set up optional AI helpers without a terminal
  • prepare first public beta around files and existing AI tools

Fixes

  • toolbar icon buttons match the bar's height, quiet open state
