Early preview of Pellikan, a local-first Bible study app. Apple Silicon Macs only.

This build is unsigned and has had little real-world testing. The data layer, the Rust code and the interface are tested (see the README), but the packaged desktop app is new and may have rough edges. Please open an issue if something breaks.

Install

1. Download Pellikan_0.0.1_aarch64.dmg below and open it.
2. Drag Pellikan to Applications.
3. The first time, macOS will say it cannot verify the app. Right-click Pellikan, choose Open, then Open again. (If it still refuses, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Pellikan.app in Terminal.)

What is in it

• Reading with WEB, BSB and KJV, offline. ASV, YLT and Darby download from the Library page.
• Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek word study with Strong's, Brown-Driver-Briggs and Thayer's.
• Matthew Henry commentary, cross-references, Easton's and Smith's dictionaries.
• Notes, highlights, tabs, search, command palette (Cmd+K).

Known limitations

• Notes and highlights are stored in the app's web data, not yet in its database.
• Accessibility gaps are listed in ACCESSIBILITY.md.
• Not yet built: importing your own books, AI search, Windows and Linux.

Licenses

The app bundles Bible texts and reference works under their own licenses, including CC BY-SA material. See the Credits page in the app and DATA_SOURCES.md. This build does not include the ESV.
