option to enable debug symbol?

hello,
I don't know if it's relevant, but when there is issue, most of the time people (extension maintainers) ask for trace with debug symbol enabled. I don't know if it's something that must be enabled in the extension side too (each time I try on some of my docker build I failed to reproduce after enabling it), but if it is, it would be nice to have a simple flag to pass. One flag for all extension.
