Language pack releases
Run inside the language-pack Git repository. Exactly one committed language/<iso>/iso.txt is required. Its first line supplies the English language name: the script lowercases it, changes spaces and hyphens to underscores, and removes characters outside a-z, digits and underscores.
The ZIP and its top folder are both <languagename>_<version>. Only committed ext/, language/ and styles/ are eligible for inclusion, with export-ignore rules applied. Missing eligible folders produce warnings; no eligible folders is an error.
All shared release options apply, including --remote, --repo, --output, and explicit --force for replacement.
| Short | Long | Behavior/default |
|---|---|---|
-c |
--check |
Validate, alone or with --create/--release. |
-v |
--version VERSION |
Explicit phpBB version; otherwise query the stable-version feed. |
-l |
--line LINE |
Version-feed release line; otherwise derive from version, else 3.3. |
--create and --release are mutually exclusive. --check may accompany either or run on its own, using local HEAD or the remote snapshot. --gh-release remains an alias for publication, and --output-dir for --output. --release now consistently means GitHub publication; use --create for a ZIP only.
git-release-langpack.sh --check
git-release-langpack.sh --create --check
git-release-langpack.sh --create --check --version 3.3.16 --output /path/to/packages
git-release-langpack.sh --release --remote --check --dry-runThe explicit version above is an example, not a claim about the current stable release. --line chooses the feed/reference directory; it does not convert a pack to another phpBB line.
The validator supports the 3.3 line only, using phpBB Translation Validator branch 1.6.x. The official phpBB release ZIP supplies English reference files and is checked against the published SHA-256 before extraction. Validation runs in safe mode against the exact packaged files. A missing summary, nonzero validator result, or any fatal/error count fails the operation; warnings and notices alone do not fail it. Inspect those findings even when the exit status is zero.
With --check alone, no final ZIP is written. With --create --check or --release --check, validation must pass before the final ZIP is written or publication begins. Cached data lives under ${XDG_CACHE_HOME:-$HOME/.cache}/git-release-langpack: phpbb-VERSION/ and translation-validator-1.6.x/. Removing the specific cache directory forces a new download/install on the next run; verify the path before deleting it.
Publish only when ready:
git-release-langpack.sh --release --remote --checkTo validate/package a remote repository without a local checkout:
git-release-langpack.sh --create --remote --repo OWNER/LANGUAGE --check --version 3.3.17 --output /path/to/packagesValidation always examines the packaged snapshot, not local working files. A failed check preserves an existing output ZIP and blocks publication even with --force.
The shared GitHub release rules apply. Exit statuses are 0 success, 1 operation/validation failure, and 2 invalid arguments.
