PixelKit v1.1.0
First release of the reorganised app. Everything the SDK documents can now be reached from the
interface, every documented function states its inputs and outputs, and a check in the build fails
when either of those stops being true.
Added
- Release documentation:
RELEASING.md(the gates, the signing story, the EAS profiles and the
order to do them in),docs/PRIVACY.md(what leaves the device and what does not), and
docs/store-listing.md(listing copy, the data-safety answers, and a justification for each
permission the manifest asks for). expo-asset, a required peer dependency ofexpo-audiothat was missing.expo-doctorwarned
that the app may crash outside Expo Go without it, which is precisely the failure a release build
would have shipped. All 21 doctor checks pass now.
Changed
eas.jsonusesappVersionSource: "local"and no longer auto-increments the production build.
The repo rule is that every change bumpsexpo.android.versionCodeby hand, so the checked-in
value has to be the one that ships; withremotethe two would have drifted apart silently.
Removed
android.permission.BODY_SENSORSfrom the manifest. It covers body-worn sensors such as a heart
rate monitor; nothing here reads one, and the IMU, magnetometer, barometer and light sensor need
no permission at all. Play treats it as sensitive, so asking for it would have meant declaring a
capability the app does not have.
This is a source release. PixelKit is a template and a reference implementation, not a shipped app — there is no binary attached. Clone it, or use it as a template, and build it against your own Pixel: npm install then npx expo run:android with a development build. RELEASING.md covers the path if you ship an app of your own from it.
Requires a Google Pixel on Android 16 or later. Gemini Nano, HiLight and ultra-wideband need a Pixel 11 Pro; anything the device lacks reports itself unavailable rather than pretending.
