What's New

This release is a comprehensive code quality overhaul preparing WP Agentic Admin for public release to the WordPress community at CloudFest Hackathon.

Hackathon Ready

  • WordPress Playground blueprint — one-click "Try It Instantly" badge in README launches a full WP 6.9 + PHP 8.3 instance with the plugin pre-installed
  • Simplified GitHub templates — lightweight CONTRIBUTING.md, PR template, and issue templates for hackathon velocity (full versions backed up to .github/templates-full/)
  • 2 issue templates (bug report + feature request) replacing 4 heavy ones
  • AI Fundamentals guide — 12-topic documentation series covering LLMs, WebGPU, quantization, ReAct pattern, and more

Code Quality

  • Zero lint errors — ESLint (0 errors), Stylelint (0 errors), 43/43 unit tests passing
  • GPL-2.0-or-later license headers added to all 21 PHP files
  • Centralized logging — migrated 15 files from console.log to the createLogger utility with verbosity control
  • Version consistency — unified version numbers across plugin header, PHP constant, and activation hook
  • Dynamic version in UI — replaced hardcoded "0.1.1" with wpAgenticAdmin.version

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed ReAct agent crash — missing default callbacks (onThinkingStart, onThinkingChunk, onThinkingEnd) caused errors when running without a full UI context (e.g., test harness)
  • Fixed useEffect race condition in ModelStatus component — async getMemoryStats() now properly cleans up on unmount
  • Fixed early variable assignment in message router that triggered @wordpress/no-unused-vars-before-return
  • Fixed logger namespace in ChatOrchestrator ('Orchestrator' → 'ChatOrchestrator')

CSS Cleanup

  • Resolved 63 Stylelint errors: removed dead selectors, merged duplicate blocks, fixed formatting
  • Removed dead :has(▊) cursor hack and commented-out code
  • Properly scoped descending-specificity and duplicate-selector rules with documented rationale

Tooling & Config

  • Upgraded @wordpress/scripts v27 → v31 — npm audit vulnerabilities reduced from 32 to 11 (all dev-only)
  • Added .editorconfig — tabs, UTF-8, LF line endings for consistent contributor formatting
  • Updated .eslintrc.js — handles @wordpress/* externals and JSX type definitions for v31 compatibility
  • Updated .gitignore — added .vscode/, .idea/, swap files
  • Removed obsolete LINTING.md — superseded by .eslintrc.js + .editorconfig

Documentation

  • Comprehensive AI Fundamentals guide — 12 topics from "What is a Language Model" to "Debugging & Development"
  • Renamed IDEAS.md → CLOUDFEST_HACKATHON.md and reorganized
  • Added Playground badge to README for instant demo access
  • Fixed broken doc links and placeholder references
  • Cleaned up .distpackage references to non-existent files

Stats

  • 65 files changed across 5 commits
  • ESLint: 0 errors, 3 warnings (intentional nested ternaries)
  • Stylelint: 0 errors, 0 warnings
  • Unit tests: 43/43 passing
  • Build: compiles cleanly on webpack 5.104.1
