v2.0.0-beta.3: admin chat sidebar with page context
Pre-release
Pre-release
Third beta of the v2 line, the full-featured GitHub release. The WordPress.org build stays on 0.11.x.
Pre-release. Not for use alongside the WordPress.org build (they share function names).
Restored
- Admin chat sidebar. An icon in the admin bar (top right) opens the assistant as a side panel on every wp-admin screen except the Agentic Admin page. It uses the model already loaded in the browser, so there is no second download. This was parked for the WordPress.org submission because the UI wasn't finished.
New
- Page context. The assistant is told which admin screen the chat was opened from, for example "The user is currently on the WordPress "Plugins" admin page (plugins.php)", or which post type is being edited. Questions like "what's on this page?" now have a starting point. Nothing is added on the Agentic Admin page itself.
Fixed
- Knowledge-base answers were cut off mid-sentence. Answers were capped at 512 tokens, and Qwen 3's reasoning could use most of that before the answer started. The cap is now 1,536.
- Code in answers rendered as plain text with stray backticks. Fenced code blocks now render as code, keeping line breaks and indentation.
Not included
- The Gutenberg editor panel is still disabled; its source is kept for a later release.
Testing status
- Unit tests (5 new for page context), PHP lint and JS lint pass.
- The sidebar was checked in WordPress (icon, panel and page context on admin screens, none on the plugin page) and tried by hand in the browser.
- Both fixes were tried by hand in the browser with the knowledge base on.
