v1.2.1 - Fix Duplicate Field Labels
What's New in v1.2.1
Bug Fix: Duplicate Field Labels
Fixes critical issue where fields with duplicate labels were overwriting each other in webhook output, causing data loss.
Problem Solved
When multiple form fields shared the same label (e.g., "Services", "Name", "Total"), only the last field's value appeared in the webhook output. This caused significant data loss for forms with repeating field patterns.
Example Issues:
- 5 "Services" fields (one per client) → only the last one appeared
- 5 "Name" fields (one per owner) → only the last one appeared
- 2 "Total" fields (Total A and Total U) → only one appeared
Solution
1. Admin Label Priority
The plugin now prioritizes Admin Labels over regular Field Labels:
- Set unique admin labels in Gravity Forms (e.g.,
services_1,services_2,owner_name_1) - These admin labels become the webhook field names
- Gives you complete control over webhook field naming
Label Priority (New):
- Admin Label (if set) ← Now checked first
- Field Label (if admin label empty)
- Field Type + ID (last resort)
2. Automatic Duplicate Detection
Added safety net that automatically appends field IDs when duplicate labels are detected:
- If two fields map to the same name, the second gets
_fieldIDappended - Prevents data loss even if admin labels aren't set
- Works automatically without configuration
3. Enhanced Value Retrieval
Improved the field value lookup to search through field inputs when the main field value is empty, ensuring values are found in edge cases.
Fields That Benefit From This Fix
- Repeating field sets (owner info, client info, etc.)
- Multiple selection fields with the same label
- Calculated fields with duplicate names
- Any form with non-unique field labels
Upgrade Notes
- No breaking changes - existing forms continue to work
- Recommended: Set admin labels for fields with duplicate names for cleaner webhook field names
- Compatible with v1.2.0
