Conquer GS 1.0
The first release of Conquer GS, a real-time strategy game for the Apple IIgs, written from scratch in 65816 assembly. It runs at 60 frames a second in Super Hi-Res, with sound and music on the Ensoniq chip.
What's in the game
- Build a base: a command center, power plants, barracks, a war factory, refineries, a radar center, gun turrets and guard towers. Sell or repair them.
- Economy: harvesters mine ore that grows back, and bring it to the command center or a refinery. Watch your power: without enough, everything builds at half speed.
- Five unit types: tanks, buggies, soldiers, rocket soldiers and harvesters. Each weapon is strong or weak against infantry, vehicles or buildings.
- Four build queues: structures, infantry, vehicles and harvesters all build at once. Queue up to 5 units of a kind, Option-click to cancel, and set rally points for the barracks and war factory.
- A computer opponent with its own base and harvester. It attacks in growing waves and rebuilds what you destroy. Three difficulties: easy, normal and hard.
- Four maps: Green Valley, River Crossing, Twin Lakes and Stone Pass, with fog of war.
- A scrolling battlefield twice the size of the screen, a radar, pause, and an end-of-game debriefing with your stats.
