What's new
- Windows is now built with Microsoft's own toolchain (MSVC). The exe no longer needs
libunwind.dll(it's gone from the zip and the installer, and the installer removes the old copy). It also has an embedded application manifest and full version info (Del (postmanpat) / BigWave Radio). This should fix Microsoft Defender blocking BigWaveRadio.exe with "os error 225", which was a false positive. - Windows SmartScreen may still warn because the exe isn't code-signed yet: "More info" → "Run anyway".

- macOS and Linux builds, with the wolf icon, a menu entry and per-OS data folders (
~/Library/Application Support/BigWaveRadioand~/.local/share/BigWaveRadio) - The update checker offers the right download for your system, and the same package type on Linux
- On macOS and Linux there's no tray icon yet, so closing the window quits. Media keys and Ctrl+Alt+B are still Windows-only
Linux builds need glibc 2.35 or newer (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora 36+, any current Arch).

BigWave Radio 0.9.5 (update checker)
BigWave Radio 0.9.5 adds an update checker, so from now on BigWave tells you when a new version is out.
Download: BigWaveRadio-0.9.5-setup-x64.exe (installer) or BigWaveRadio-0.9.5-windows-x64.zip (portable). The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn: click "More info", then "Run anyway". Installing over 0.9.4 or older keeps your library, ratings and settings.
New in 0.9.5:
- Check for updates on the About page: shows your version, the latest version and its release notes, with Download (the installer), View release page, Not now and Skip this version
- Quiet check at startup, at most once a day: a small notice appears only if there's a new version. You can turn it off in Settings > Behaviour ("Check for updates at startup")
- Nothing downloads or installs by itself
- If GitHub can't be reached, a manual check tells you why; the startup check stays silent
- The app's version now matches the release tag everywhere (About page, exe properties, update check)
- About: Buy Me a Coffee button (PayPal still available underneath)

BigWave Radio 0.9.4
BigWave Radio 0.9.4: the new wolf icon everywhere, and a new installer packaged the same way as ChipWave Tracker.
Download: BigWaveRadio-0.9.4-setup-x64.exe (installer) or BigWaveRadio-0.9.4-windows-x64.zip (portable). The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn: click "More info", then "Run anyway".
New in 0.9.4:
- Wolf icon on the exe, window, taskbar, tray, Start menu and desktop shortcuts, Apps & features, and the setup/uninstaller
- New About-page logo and installer artwork in the green wolf palette
- New NSIS installer: installs for all users to
C:\Program Files\BigWave Radio, with Start Menu shortcuts, an optional desktop shortcut (on by default), and a licence page. Silent install:/S - Upgrading from 0.9.3 or older: the setup closes BigWave if it's running (including from the tray), removes the old per-user install in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\BigWaveRadioand its old shortcuts, and asks Windows to refresh its icons. Your library, ratings, settings and plugins in%LOCALAPPDATA%\BigWaveRadioare kept. - The About page has a ☕ Buy me a coffee button. Thank you. :)
If Windows still shows the old icon afterwards, run ie4uinit.exe -show, or sign out and back in.

BigWave Radio v0.9.3
- Double-click a plugin in the side menu to start it — hover a plugin entry for the hint (e.g. double-click Visions to launch the visualiser)
- Visions visualiser is much sharper: the engine renders at 360p instead of 240p (Quality settings remapped so it stays at 60 fps)
- Icon cleanup: installed app ships the circle-wave icon everywhere (shortcuts, Apps & features)
- Plus everything from v0.9.2: world map on Countries, About page in the side menu, idle visualiser, tag ball word cloud, dark title bar with session quote, new branding
Install: run BigWaveRadio-Setup-0.9.3.exe, or unzip the portable build anywhere.
The About page (ℹ in the side menu) shows v0.9.3 — check it after installing to confirm you're on the latest build.

- World map on Countries: flat equirectangular map with a bubble per country, sized by station count — hover for the count, click to drill in
- About is now its own page in the side menu (ℹ About), with logo, version, credits and donate link
- Idle visualiser: after 5 minutes untouched the Visions visualiser kicks in (Settings, on by default)
- Disc-shaped tag ball word cloud on Search
- Dark-grey title bar with a fresh motivational quote each session
- Settings cards restyled to match the transport buttons
- New circle-wave brand icon throughout (exe, installer, shortcuts, tray)
Install: run BigWaveRadio-Setup-0.9.2.exe, or unzip the portable build anywhere.
v0.9.1: UI polish: plugin cards, buttons, compact station grid
BigWave Radio v0.9.1: UI polish
Plugins page
- Accent bar fixed. The coloured bar on each plugin card now sits inside the card's left edge, follows the card's rounded corners, and is exactly as tall as the card. Before, it was painted before the card was laid out, using the remaining page height, so it spilled into the next card and down to the bottom of the page.
- Readable text. The page intro, card descriptions, the "Can:" permissions line and the footer hint are larger and higher-contrast. Card spacing is tidied.
- Real buttons. Import .zip is the main accent-filled button. Open folder and Reload all are framed, and Browse community plugins is a link-style button. Every button has padding, an icon and a hover state, and so do the Enable / Disable / Allow & enable / Reload buttons on each card.
Station cards
- Compact cards everywhere. Station cards are smaller and tighter, with a smaller play button and more room for the station name. The number of columns follows the window width, and cards stretch to fill each row. About twice as many stations fit on screen. The ★ favourite toggle and your rating stars stay.
- Settings → Station cards: choose Compact (default) or Comfortable (the old size).
Fixes
- A slow Discover result could replace a mood page's stations (for example, the Trance page showing Trending). It no longer can.
