Release list
melonRA nightly (655e681)
Automatic build of the latest master commit. It has the newest changes before they
make it into a release, so it may be less stable.
- Windows:
melonRA-windows-x86_64.zip(or-arm64). Unzip it anywhere and runmelonRA.exe. - Linux:
melonRA-linux-x86_64.AppImage(or-aarch64). Make it executable and run it.
Last updated: 2026-10-30 16:59 UTC, from commit 655e681.
A new nightly is built for every commit to master. Each file is replaced as its build
finishes, about 10-15 minutes after the commit, so for a short while the platforms can be
one commit apart. Built from 655e681.
melonRA 0.4.0
NOTE: As of today, 28/10, the emulator isn't yet verified for Hardcore completions in RetroAchievements' side. Some features might not be available just yet.
Additions and changes
- Discord Rich Presence is now available, shows the emulator's name, the logo and header name of the ROM you are playing. When paired with RetroAchievements, shows details of their own Rich Presence on Discord (showing what you are doing in the game, the icon of the game's set, etc.)
- Some game list changes, including a new option to display an achievement completion bar, it'll turn gold when the game is Mastered. And it will show a little star in the title of the game, or in the cover when in grid mode.
- You can now right click games in the list and click "Achievements..." it'll take you to that game's achievement page where you can see your progress.
- A hotkey to rotate the screens has been added under Input and Hotkeys > General Hotkeys. Useful for games that require a lot of screen layout changes and rotation.
- The emulator's updater has been pointed to this repository yet again after a name change. So, every old release won't update to the latest commit. Please download and begin with this one.
melonRA 0.3.0
NOTE: As of today, 10/27, RetroAchievements hasn't yet verified the emulator for Hardcore support. So some features might not completely work as intended.
NOTE 2: Version no longer available because of updater changes for security reasons.
Additions and changes
- You can now unlock achievements whilst offline, it will save the achievement data and will unlock them once it can reach the server again. (Both Hardcore and Casual)
- Challenge indicators in the overlay are able to be hovered on, showing the requisites for the challenge itself and how many points its worth.
- Quick screen layout and sizing hotkeys (under General Hotkeys in Input and Hotkeys tab)
- Game list has been optimised so that it remembers your games already attributed, and only updates when it detects new ones or deletes when it doesn't see them in the directory.
- Settings can now be exported and restored from one system to another (excluding RetroAchievements login info)
- Kaeru WFC and Wiimmfii support in the online play server picker under Wi-Fi Settings
- If you add DSiWare to your game list, it shows up, and it'll give you instructions on how to play them. This might change in a future and be simplified to just one-click installing o DSiWare
- Per game settings, right click any game and go into their Game Settings tab in order to change something that would only affect that game specifically. It'll have a little indicator if a games' settings are changed from global.
- Settings no longer pause the emulator by default, you can enable this again under Emulation Settings
- If on the Nightly stream of updates, the window title now specifies which Nightly build is being used.
Various security updates:
- Updates now only come from this repository and are checked against GitHub's own SHA-256 checksum before downloading and installing.
- RetroAchievements' dev toolkit is only downloadable from their own servers.
- Logging out removes the offline copy of your login used for offline achievement data.
- Your RA password is cleared from memory as soon as its sent to the servers for login.
melonRA 0.2.0
NOTE: Version no longer available because of updater changes for security reasons.
Additions and changes
- Game list: Now instead of the default melonDS starting screen, the emulator will prompt you to add a path for your games, and thus will put them in a modern, slicker game list that shows you the title of the game, its icon, region (and a flag!) and developer.
- The game list can be set to a grid mode, which will parse the covers of your downloaded library and make them appear uniformly in a square grid, you are able to change the sizing of this grid with a slider.
- RetroAchievements sets from your populated game list can all be viewed under "Achievements..." on the "RetroAchievements" tab. Your currently playing sits at the top showing all the subsets, whilst the rest are in a list to the side.
- Overlay customisation: you can now choose where elements are positioned in the screen under "Settings..." on the "RetroAchievements" tab. You will be able to choose where certain elements appear, and their visuals (such as having bolded text, making them smaller, or changing the colors to a simpler scheme)
- melonRA now has its own Updater that takes from this repository, you can change it to either Releases or Nightly builds (the latter of these is highly experimental, so use at your own risk!), you can have it auto update every time you boot up the emulator, or have a prompt asking you to do so.
- Fixed some problems with the menu bar on Windows 11, they looked weird and didn't cover the text you were hovering over completely.
melonRA 0.1.0
melonRA 0.1.0
NOTE: Version no longer available because of updater changes for security reasons.
- First release, hooray!
- Added RetroAchievements support to melonDS (including login, achievement viewer, leaderboards, and in-client pop ups for all. Hardcore mode has to be revised by RATeam so it's not available just yet.)
- Modified all lines to say melonRA instead, and a colorswapped logo to differentiate forks. "About" page in the Help menu hasn't changed, except for adding a text that specifies that this is melonRA, and a button to this repository just in case.
