v3.14.7: Opt-in browser setup, clean MCP shutdown, self-healing pattern search
What's New
Lighter install: browser setup is now opt-in. Installing AQE no longer pulls in Vibium or downloads Chrome. If you use browser-based testing (visual, accessibility, end-to-end), run:
aqe init --browser-engineExisting installs are not affected.
The MCP server always shuts down cleanly. However it is stopped (closing the client, a JSON-RPC shutdown, Ctrl-C, or SIGTERM), it releases its pattern-store lock and closes the learning database properly. The next start no longer has to recover a stale lock.
Better, self-repairing pattern search. Routing and task_orchestrate hints combine keyword and vector matching, and show why a pattern matched (similarity, score, matchType, canReuse). The keyword index repairs itself when the database opens if it has drifted out of sync, without changing any stored patterns.
Test generation that doesn't guess. Give test_generate_enhanced (behaviorExamples) or aqe test generate (--behavior-examples <file>) a few input/expected-output examples, and AQE writes real assertions from them for Vitest, Jest or Node's test runner. Without examples (and without an LLM), it produces a clearly marked scaffold instead of generic, guessed assertions. Invalid examples get a clear error and no longer lock out test generation for other users of the same MCP server.
Heads-up for CI scripts: aqe test generate now exits with code 1 when generation is rejected.
