v1.2.0 — MCPcast: your OpenAPI as a reviewed MCP server
Promptise Foundry v1.2.0: turn the API you already have into a reviewed MCP server, and bring any model with one line.
Highlights
MCPcast (promptise mcpcast): point it at an OpenAPI 3.x or Swagger 2 document (a file, a URL, or an API running on your machine) and get a real, editable MCP server project: an installable package, a launcher, a generated test suite, pyproject.toml, a Dockerfile and a README, all regenerated from mcpcast.plan.yaml. Every operation is risk-classified; a model designs a small, agent-ready tool surface under rules the code enforces; safety profiles decide what is generated (read-only by default), and every non-read tool is approval-gated on the server, for any MCP client. Four auth modes, and --eval grades the result A to F with a real agent before you ship.
Guided setup: plain promptise mcpcast opens a full-screen terminal wizard that detects the API running on your machine, explains every decision, shows the plan for review, and prints the exact command it ran.
Bring your own model: every place Promptise takes a model accepts a provider:model string, a Model(...) object or a .superagent entry, with one vocabulary for every provider. OpenAI, Azure OpenAI and AI Foundry, Anthropic, Gemini and Vertex AI, Bedrock, Mistral, Groq, Ollama and more, with no per-provider packages. promptise models check <string> tells you exactly what a provider still needs, and .env is now loaded the same way by scripts and the CLI.
Fixed
- MCP server SDK: caller identity is bound to each request, not the session; loopback servers validate
Host/Origin(DNS rebinding); elicitation and sampling call the real SDK methods, so elicitation-based approval works. - Engine: a failed model call raises
GraphExecutionErrorinstead of returning the question as the answer. Modelno longer prints credentials in its repr or in node errors.- MCPcast evaluation: an approval-gated route can no longer reach the real API during
--eval. - Generated MCPcast servers and the guided setup were hardened after an adversarial audit; the full list is in the changelog.
Changed
httpxis an explicit core dependency; Python 3.13 joins the test matrix; the CI security gate now fails on real advisories; SPDX license metadata.
