Covers commits v0.3.0..HEAD (2026-08-26 to 2026-08-30), preparing release v0.4.0.

New Features

  • LVGL integration re-added — LVGL support was added, then briefly removed, then restored (3e3fcd3, 0cbd74c, 8bd33e3).
  • JPEG parsing — new IO/JPEGParser.h with a jpeg-parser-demo example (f393f31).
  • ESP-IDF support — new Abstractions/EmulationIDF.h, idf_component.yml updates; emulator removed from the CMake build in favor of IDF (4950498).
  • TFT_eSPI support (optional) — new Boards/LCDBoardsTFTeSPI.h, Drivers/DisplayDriverTFTeSPI.h, Input/TouchDriverTFTeSPI.h (e8b03d2).
  • New display abstraction layer — new Abstractions/ folder: DSIBusESP32.h, DSIBusSTM32.h, EmulationDesktop.h, IDSIBus.h, IQSPIBus.h, QSPIBusBitBang.h, QSPIBusESP32.h (c6fdfe1).
  • 8-pin parallel display driver support — new DisplayDriverParallel8.h, DisplayDriverParallel8ESP32.h, DisplayDriverParallel8RP2040.h (9e9db1b).
  • Clipping support for rendering (13c62fe).
  • Windowed surfaces — new Surface/WindowedSurface.h and Surface/ISurface.h interface.

Refactoring / Restructuring

  • Fonts overhaul: BitmapFont.h significantly slimmed down (763 → much smaller), FixedBitmapFont.h removed, new Font5x7.h added, Fonts.h entry point added, IFont.h/LinePrinter.h added (3fc1f9b, f0b01c2, 71e93b7).
  • Touch driver split: TouchDriver.h broken up into TouchDriverArduino.h, TouchDriverCommon.h, TouchDriverTFTeSPI.h; TouchDriverSDL.h moved from Drivers/ to Input/.
  • Display driver cleanup: DisplayDriverDSI.h and DisplayDriverQSPI.h substantially reworked/simplified against the new abstraction layer; DisplayDriverSPI.h updated.
  • SurfaceBase.h updated (+71/-lines) to support the new surface/windowing abstractions.

Documentation

  • README updated with new content (1b2fdd7).

Other

  • .gitignore, CMakeLists.txt (examples + root) updated for new examples and IDF build changes.
  • library.properties version bumped to 0.4.0.
