Note

A minor release on @r9: Package and PublishOnPyPI build and publish the source distribution and the wheel separately, selected by new inputs. The defaults keep today's behaviour - both are built and published. The default of publish_sdist changes to 'false' with @r10.

Why: a package whose setup.py reads its requirements files (pyTooling's DescribePythonPackageHostedOnGitHub) can't be installed from its source distribution - pip builds a wheel from an sdist by running setup.py again, and the requirements files aren't part of the sdist. A pure-Python wheel installs on every platform.

✨ New Features

  • Package.yml: inputs package_sdist and package_wheel (default 'true') select what is built - for build, build --no-isolation and setuptools (#319).
  • PublishOnPyPI.yml: inputs publish_sdist and publish_wheel (default 'true') select what is uploaded (#319).
  • CompletePipeline.yml: inputs package_sdist and package_wheel, forwarded to Package, and pypi_publish_sdist and pypi_publish_wheel, forwarded to PublishOnPyPI (#319).

🔧 Changes

  • PublishOnPyPI.yml: a dry run checks the wheel and the source package with twine check in a step each, only for the selected kinds. With neither kind selected, a warning says that nothing was published or checked. The compliance check step is named 🕵️ Check that the package is PyPI-compliant (#319).

📖 Documentation

  • Package, PublishOnPyPI and CompletePipeline: the new inputs in the parameter tables and as sections; publish_sdist and pypi_publish_sdist carry a note that their default changes to 'false' with @r10 (#319).
  • doc/requirements.txt installs pyEDAA.Reports from PyPI again (0.20.0rc1) instead of its dev branch on GitHub (#318).

  • Version 9.3.0 in myPackage/__init__.py and myFramework/Extension/__init__.py (b4d337e).
