Created by the prepare release pr workflow.

Once all builds pass and it has been approved by one or more maintainers, start the deploy workflow, using these parameters:

  • Use workflow from: release-8.0.0rc1.
  • Release version: 8.0.0rc1.

Or execute on the command line:

gh workflow run deploy.yml -r release-8.0.0rc1 -f version=8.0.0rc1

After the workflow has been approved by a core maintainer, the package will be uploaded to PyPI automatically.

I've edited the release notes to hopefully make them more streamlined. Link: https://pytest--11744.org.readthedocs.build/en/11744/changelog.html#pytest-8-0-0rc1-2023-12-30

Rebased on top of the 7.4.4 release, this makes the release notes a bit shorter.
