Q-BitX v0.4.0 — Core + Windows Wallet
Q-BitX v0.4.0 is a maintenance and reliability release focused on post-quantum transactions, wallet operations, consensus validation, and mining compatibility. The release now also includes the updated Windows desktop wallet installer with bundled Core v0.4.0.

Windows desktop users should choose the installer. The Windows ZIP and Linux archive provide the standalone Core node and CLI.
Core improvements
- Native PQ / Dilithium transaction signing and verification improvements.
- Fixes for PQ wallet spending, transaction construction, and fee/weight estimation.
- Improved handling of large UTXO sets and multi-recipient transactions.
- Legacy-to-native PQ migration support and related RPC safety improvements.
- Mining block-template (GBT) and transaction policy improvements.
- Consensus, mempool, and blockchain synchronization fixes.
- Expanded unit and functional regression coverage.
Native PQ batch payouts have been successfully confirmed on mainnet using the release-candidate Core implementation. The standalone Core archives already published for v0.4.0 are unchanged.
Windows desktop wallet update
- Bundled, checksum-verified Core v0.4.0 node and CLI.
- Updated blue interface, clearer cards and controls, navigation icons, and smooth transitions.
- Installation folder selection remains available during installation and upgrades. Automatic CLI discovery follows the current application folder.
- Correct handling of batch
pqsendtoaddressresults: displays all transaction IDs, the amount sent, and total fees. - Refreshes balances after sending and clears the amount field after success. Unconfirmed and immature funds are excluded from the amount available for this send operation.
- Recent transaction history is read from the full wallet transaction data, addressing missing recent sends in restored wallets whose ordered transaction list is stale. The latest 50 operations are shown, with automatic refresh while the page is open.
- Newest application log events appear at the top; saved log files remain chronological.
- Native dark Windows title bar and border styling, with standard window controls retained where supported.
- Corrected wallet-name labels, Copy button sizing, and Qt control styling.
- Uninstall no longer recursively deletes the entire user-selected installation folder.
The Windows installer was added after the initial Core-only publication of this release. It includes all of the GUI corrections listed above.
Validation
- Windows x86-64 GUI and installer builds completed successfully.
- Qt/QML regression checks covered batch-send results, RPC errors, history response matching, transaction ordering, and log display behavior.
- History display was checked against an affected restored wallet's RPC data, including recent sends.
- An isolated Windows regtest PQ send appeared in wallet history before confirmation, and the test node shut down normally.
- Custom-path CLI discovery, control sizing at 125% scaling, and native Windows dark-frame attributes were checked.
Upgrade
- Back up your wallet.
- In the desktop wallet, choose Stop node and exit and wait for the node to stop. Stop any standalone node before replacing its binaries.
- Run the Windows installer, or replace the standalone Core executables for your platform.
- Start the wallet or node and check synchronization and transaction history.
Keep your existing wallet and blockchain data directories. Changing the application installation folder does not require deleting or recreating that data.
PQ sends can create multiple transactions. Check the returned transaction IDs and history before retrying a send after an uncertain response.
Verify downloaded packages against SHA256SUMS.txt before installation.
Linux desktop wallet (x86-64)
The same Qt 6 / QML desktop GUI as Windows v0.4.0 is available for
Linux, bundled with matching, checksum-verified Core v0.4.0 binaries.
- QBitX-Wallet-0.4.0-ubuntu24.04-amd64.deb: Ubuntu/Debian desktop package.
- QBitX-Wallet-0.4.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz: precompiled bundle,
requires Qt 6 runtime libraries and QML modules. - SHA256SUMS-linux-gui.txt: checksums for both Linux GUI packages.
Back up your wallet before upgrading. Preserve ~/.qbitx and all wallet
data. This package does not provide Linux ARM or AppImage binaries.
GUI data-directory fix (2 November 2026)
Windows and Linux GUI packages have been rebuilt to fix the data directory setting being ignored.
The saved directory is now used by the embedded node and CLI and is preserved between launches.
After saving a different directory in Settings, fully exit and restart the wallet to apply it.
Existing wallet and blockchain data are not moved automatically. Back up your wallet before changing directories.
Linux GUI requires Ubuntu 24.04 x86-64 or a compatible system. Core v0.4.0 archives are unchanged.
Download the updated GUI installer or Linux package and verify the refreshed SHA256SUMS files.
Linux runtime and address-list fixes (2 November 2026)
Linux Core and GUI bundles now include private LevelDB, Snappy, libevent and SQLite libraries in lib/ with relative loader paths. Keep lib/ and licenses/ alongside the executables. Installing a system libleveldb.so.1d or setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH is no longer required. Linux glibc 2.38 or newer is required; the GUI also requires compatible Qt 6 runtime libraries and QML modules. The .deb targets Ubuntu 24.04 amd64. These are not musl/Alpine builds.
Windows and Linux GUI address creation and refresh are correlated with the requesting wallet. Delayed responses from earlier refreshes no longer remove newly generated unfunded addresses or update another wallet's list.
The Linux Core archive has been repackaged with the private runtimes; the blockchain protocol and Core version remain 0.4.0. The Windows Core archive is unchanged. GUI packages and both SHA256SUMS files have been refreshed. Previously downloaded files should be downloaded again.
