  • The extension now requires VS Code 1.101 or later. Positron is unaffected (#1157).
  • In the visual editor, citations inserted into a .bib bibliography for software, graphics, songs, films, legislation, legal cases, interviews, personal communications, hearings, maps, figures and classics are now written as @misc entries instead of @article (#1160).
  • The extension now reads YAML the way Quarto CLI does: merge keys (<<) in front matter and _quarto.yml are no longer resolved, and dates are read as strings (#1158).
  • Math hovers and visual editor equation previews are now rendered with MathJax 4, using the same TeX font as before. Output is nearly identical; numcases now works, and a few extensible arrows from the extpfeil extension (such as \xtwoheadrightarrow) render slightly differently (#1171).
  • Updated markdown-it to version 15. In the Quarto help panel, bare domains such as www.example.com are no longer turned into links (https:// URLs still are), and a link now ends at Unicode punctuation. In notebook markdown cells, definition lists with a blank line between the term and the definition now wrap each definition in a paragraph, as Pandoc does (#1174).
  • Updated the visual editor to current ProseMirror releases. The ProseMirror developer tools (Ctrl+Alt+P) are now only included in development builds of the extension (#1179).
  • In the visual editor, once 100 pasted or inserted images share a name, new images are still saved in the images/ folder with their file extension. Previously they went into the document's folder with no extension (#1181).
  • On Windows, image paths the visual editor inserts that contain more than one folder separator (e.g. ../images/plot.png) now use forward slashes throughout. Previously only the first backslash was converted (#1181).
  • Running a Stata or C# cell no longer drops leading #| lines. These languages write cell options as *| and //|, so #| lines are code, and they are now sent to the kernel just as quarto render sends them (#1183).
  • Updated the Mermaid used to render diagrams in notebook Markdown cells from 9.4 to 11.17, so newer syntax such as A@{ shape: ... } works. The diagram preview moves from Mermaid 11.12 to 11.17 too. In both, class and C4 diagrams now use Mermaid's newer renderer, so they look slightly different (#1189).
  • Fixed a bug where the first character of lines outside code cells (paragraphs, headings, YAML) and of IPython magic lines in Python cells (%, !) could be highlighted as a comment (#985).
  • Fixed "Quarto: Preview" and render in the terminal when the document path contains shell special characters, such as parentheses, ;, @, $, or quotes (#1197).
  • In Positron, the Viewer now shows a stop button for Quarto previews. Clicking it stops quarto preview and closes the preview. The button goes away when the preview server stops (#1193).
